1. Based on the materials of the KB2, write one function of Media that you
think the most suitable for your teaching in the classroom.
2. According to the materials of the KB2, there are many factors you should
consider in choosing a media for your teaching, write two factors you
consider the most important ones for your teaching.
3. Suppose you are assigned to teach "Descriptive Text" to SMP students,
what "media" will you use, and what factors you take into consideration for
the choice of the media.

1. Based on the KB 2, one is the important function of media that I think the most
suitable for my classroom teaching is Media as a tool in the teaching and
learning process.

Media as a tool in the teaching and learning process is a fact that can not be
denied in the development of education in the 21st century. Because by using media,
can help the teacher's task in conveying the materials to the students. The teacher
realizes that without of using media, the lessons are more difficult to master and
understand for each student, especially in teaching complex materials.
As a media teaching tool, it should be used by every teachers in the learning
process, but in fact this is often ignored by them for various reasons such as: limited
time to prepare for teaching, difficulties in finding teaching aids and media
appropriate, and the lack of funds to procure the media. The difficulties above do not
really need to be happened, because many types of media that can be used,
adapted to the conditions of time, finance and material to be delivered.
This is based on my believe that the learning process with the help of the media
enhance student learning activities in a long period. It means that the students'
learning activities with media assistance will produce more learning processes and
results will be better than those without using media assistance. Even so, the use
of media as a tool is not can be only at teachers’ will. But the teacher must be pay
attention and consider to the purpose of the materials. Media that can support the
achievement of teaching goals is certainly need more attention. While media that
does not support of course must be not used anymore. Finally, it can be
understood that media is a tool in the teaching and learning process. In this case
the teacher is the one use it to educate students in dealing with the achievement
of learning objectives.
2. Two factors that I consider the most important ones for my teaching are:

1. Learning objectives to be achieved.

In the selection of learning media, the teacher must be associated the media
with: (1) basic competencies; (2) learning strategies; (3) evaluation system
used. Principles of media selection: a) Selection Objectives; b) Characteristics
of the media; 3) alternative choices. Factors that need to be considered: 1)
objectivity; 2) teaching programs; 3) Program objectives (students); 4)
situations and conditions; 5) technical quality; 6) effectiveness and efficiency
of use. Selection criteria, including:
1. Topics attract students.
2. Material in media is important for students.
3. Relevant to the applicable curriculum.
4. The material must be authentic and actual.
5. the material must have the fact or concept correct.
6. Systematic and logical format.
7. Objective orientation of student needs.
8. Narratives, images, effects, colors and so on meet the quality requirements.
9. Language, symbols and illustrations are quite communicative.
10. Its carrying capacity that has been tested.

2. Types of learning (audio or visual).

Each type of media has internal characteristics and abilities display messages
and information. The characteristics and capabilities of each media are
necessary attention by the teachers so that they can choose the right media in
accordance with the conditions and needs. Audio for example, is an auditive
media that can make a maximum contribution to teach verbal learning topics
like pronunciation of foreign languages. For teaching foreign languages, many
audio that are ready to use and availabe on internet. If the audio material is
not suitable, the teacher can prepare to another alternative media.. Making
audio media for indoor use only need a record, cassette and resource person
who can foreign language, meanwhile its use only requires the same tool. The
illustration describe the election and the use of media can be adapted to
conditions faced with. Each subject matter certainly has a difficult level
varied. On the other hand, there are learning materials that do not require
tools, but on the other hand there are very lesson material need a tool in the
form of teaching media such as a globe, pictures, graphics, and so on.
Level learning material high difficulty is certainly difficult for students to
process. Moreover for students who do not like the subject matter delivered.
If students quickly feel bored and feel exhausted of course they cannot
avoid, due to the teacher's explanation difficult to master and understand. A
wise teacher is aware of that students' boredom from the unclear
explanation, sometimes confusing, there is no focus on the problem. This
problem of course must be solved. If the teacher does not have the ability to
explain a material well, it's best to present media as a learning tool achieve
the set goals before implementation. As a tool, the media has the function
to make the process of learning become easier to convey the materials well
in order to achieve the teaching goals.

3. "Descriptive Text" to SMP students, what "media" will you use, and what
factors you take into consideration for the choice of the media.

The action that I have chosen in teaching descriptive text is the use of
media images with varied objects. Learning activities by utilizing this media is a
follow-up to the improvement of learning conducted in the learning outcomes of
students experiencing a significant increase. Image media can make it easier
for students to learn it. Besides being varied in learning, with media images will
attract students more attention in the learning process. Image media make it
easier for students in the observation process.

In utilizing image media, I can use images of animals or photos of

themselves from students. Media images can be obtained from the students
themselves who bring or from the teacher preparation. When learning takes
place, The students do not immediately describe the picture that I have given. I
give many questions related to the picture in question. After students get a lot of
information related to the picture, then they can make descriptive text. With the
guidance, students can make the correct sentence according to the tenses
used.
With the use of this varied image media, students are expected to be more
enthusiastic and learning more interesting. If the teaching and learning process
can run smoothly, the learning outcomes will automatically increase. Students
no longer feel bored with conventional learning systems. With the use of image
media, students can search for more information and learning processes with
5M (Observing, Asking, Trying, Associating, and Observing) that are in
accordance with the scientific approach can run smoothly.

The Core Activity in the class:

1. The first step is to observe. At this stage prioritizing the meaningfulness of
the learning process (meaningful learning. Students are presented with real
media images so that students feel happy and challenged.
2. The second step is asking. In this activity students can ask various
information that they do not know. Teachers are required to be able to
inspire students to develop their knowledge and skills, thereby arousing
curiosity, interest, attention about a theme or theme of learning.
3. Furthermore is exploring or trying. In this activity students are required to
read other teaching material sources besides textbook, and observe the
object of the given image.
4. The next step is Associating, at this stage, The students must process the
information that has been collected from the existing image, both limited to
the results of the observation activity, asking questions, and trying.
5. Communicating. At this stage the students must convey the results of
observations, conclusions based on the pictures they have obtained.

The factors I take into consideration for choosing this media are:

1. Students tend to be lazy to read books and less enthusiastic in participating

in descriptive text learning. This is because teachers tend to be
monotonous and conventional in the teaching and learning process.
2. The students are more interested in attractive visual media like picture,
image and video.
3. Teachers only use media only as textbooks, (Teaching Material
Supplements) and blackboard. Based on the above conditions, as a teacher
I should look for various alternatives and solutions. I should create learning
activities that can attract enthusiastic students in learning English,
especially descriptive text material. Therefore, the selection of relevant
methods and the use of image media will help the success of the teacher's
business in improving student learning outcomes.
The example of media of images:
1. My Rabbit

2. My Lovely Cat
3. Candi Borobudur

4. Pink Beach
