Contents of Project Proposal

Project proposal must contain, but not necessarily be limited to, the following essentials:

Statement of your Proposal (Title/ Project idea)

A clear, concise statement of the problem/Study area usually in one to three sentences.
Justifications and explanations belong in the "background" section.
Examples:
 Comparative study on Lipton and Tapal tea with respect to consumer purchase decision
 A proposed study to reposition Nurpur Butter to improve market share
 A study of consumer preferences towards Toyota Lexus
 A projected report to rebrand Candia Milk
 An analytical study on Domino’s pizza with respect to consumer preferences in
Faisalabad

Objectives of the Study

A concise statements identifying the purpose of the proposal. The objective(s) should be phrased
in positive terms (e.g., to develop, to determine, measure, rather than broad generalities, such as,
to investigate, to study).

Background
A statement written for placing the project (study/research) in its proper context. It may include
the findings of the literature search. These findings should demonstrate either that there has been
no other research or study on the problem/ area with the same approach or that the proposed study
can be developed, extended, modified or refined/reframed with the prior study.
Significance of study
Enumerate the benefits to customers, organizations and ultimately to our country. These benefits
can be obtained from the study/research by working on the suggested elements such as, better
services to the customers, savings of time or money, increased safety, improved aesthetic quality
or preservation of the environment, improved value for customers, improved packaging changing
brand mantras and cost effectiveness measures. Support your answers and assumptions with
statistical inferences or any available facts and figures from a well reputed institution locally or
worldwide.

Work Plan/Methodology
The plan or approach intended to be used should be fully described and specify in detail how the
study will be structured and performed to meet each project objective. The work plan must identify
major phases and relate these phases to requirements. Data collection methods must be mentioned
to complete your study. Mention the data analysis techniques if applied.

Time Schedule
Include a bar chart to illustrate the interrelationship and scheduling of the different phases and
tasks of the project.

Word Count/ No of pages

750-1000 words should be written in the project proposal that will consist of 3-4 pages
approximately.

References
Include a list of all literature cited within the proposal.
