Using shapes to create complex shapes to form different types of houses

Vocabulary: Complex Shapes, outline

Purpose of Lesson (Overall Lesson Objective):


Students will utilize complex shapes, outline and composition to portray an accurate representation
of their home environment.

Objectives:
Given a variety of photographs of houses, students will identify different shapes and complex shapes
accurately that comprise the houses.

Given a variety of crayons and markers, students will organize complex shapes to draw and outline
their own house accurately.

Assessment Criteria:

Use of complex shapes to create an accurate representation of their home


Appropriate use of markers to accurately outline the house and details within the house

Teaching Resources Needed to Support the Lesson:

White board magnets, projector, connection for computer

Art Materials Necessary for the Lesson:

Trimmed down computer paper, 6 of each color crayon, makers, lamented house pictures, dry
erase markers, pre-made house projects (3), YouTube video (House Song)
