3-Dimensional Art & Design

Teacher : Ms. Simon Room : 803
Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to our 3-Dimensional Art & Design class. A little about myself is my name is Ms.
Simon I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. I have a Single-
Subject Teaching Credential for Art from California State University, Fullerton. I have over 23
years’ experience working with children, in after school programs, summer camps, recreation
programs, substitute teaching and I volunteer at my church as a Sunday school teacher.
I chose education as a career because I enjoy helping and teaching students. I discovered
that my true calling was to teach the love of art. My first experience with art began in middle school
when I was painting, drawing and working with ceramics. The combination of my love of art and
educating students is what brought me to where I am today. I’m looking forward in meeting you all
and creating beautiful art with your children.
As an art educator my goal is to inspire students to create art and to discuss the expression
of art. Through guidance we’ll build knowledge and understanding of the world using art. I want to
help students to connect with their own culture and gain knowledge of other cultures. I will help
students improve their motor skills, decision making and problem-solving skills. My goal is to be
impactful, compassionate, and flexible with each student’s learning abilities. I want to create a safe
environment for my students. In this class any type of bullying or disrespect will not be tolerated.
Due to the diverse nature of our school, my goal is to create an inclusive classroom that considers
the many needs of y students.
The goals for this course are to provide a meaningful, hands on learning experience that
allows for personal growth and creative expression. Also, to incorporate a comprehensive art
program that integrates the areas of athletics, art criticism, art history and studio production. Also,
to provide students with experiences that are sequentially planned building on previous concepts,
providing learning opportunities that incorporate a variety of media, artistic styles and historical
periods.
Please feel free to contact me by phone or email whenever you have any questions or
concerns regarding your child’s academic success in this class. Looking forward to meeting you and
teaching your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Simon
