LESSON DELIVERY
Time Introduction: Resources/
References
9:50am Welcome students as they walk in and give a quick introduction of
who I am as a teacher, interests hobbies etc. A seating plan can be
established if certain students do not work well seated together.

Do the role
9:54 PART 1:
Hand out Student brief and go over.
Read over all formal documentation, discuss class expectations and Student brief
rules, about what type of classroom environment everyone wants:
‘We want a respectful and supportive classroom that is safe.’

To ensure your experience in Visual Arts is positive, please adhere

to the following rules:

1. Respect the work and opinion of others

2. Respect the art room and the materials you use
3. Complete work on time
4. Always work to the best of your ability!

PART 2:
10:10 In today's class:
Create a self portrait contour drawing Mirror, pencil and
paper to draw
Activity: Blind Contour- Drawing an exercise in seeing. A contour
drawing is a suggestion of three dimensional forms, it's not meant to
be perfect.
You will need - a mirror and pencil and paper to draw.
Teacher demonstrates the activity, and how they have to draw
themselves without looking at the paper and without taking the pencil
off the page. It is easier to start with the face and eyes working
outwards or draw the shape of the face and work inwards. The result
should be a messy not perfected portrait drawing, which you should
remind the students that we are not aiming at perfection, only to have
fun with it. Students are welcome to draw as many portraits as they
like or even draw a friend

● Ask students to get a few pieces of paper and a mirror

● Gather them around a table for you to demonstrate contour
drawing for them, (emphasising that they are not allowed to
look at what they are drawing)
10:15 ● Ask them to return to their seats and have fun with it
● Put on background music
● Turn off the music when the activity is over and gather
students attention

PART THREE
Lesson Closure
10:30 Get the class to walk around the room and look at everyone’s work.

Remind students to pack up before their next class- put all martials
back where they found them.

Teacher summaries the lesson

Assessment: (were the lesson objectives met?)

Students effectively created a contour drawing

Students portfolios/work are kept in the classroom for the teacher to

review and assess.
