FAQs

1. Is the stipend enough for living?

R1: Based on the current scholars from India and other countries, the stipend is good enough for living for all
type of programs. Cost of living in China is very cheap with standard of living very high.

2. Is vegetarian food available?

R2: Shantou University Canteens have many choices for vegetarian food. Infact, many Indian students and staff
is currently working in University.

3. Location of Shantou

R3: Shantou (Chaoshan Bullet Train Station) is located 2 hours by direct bullet train from Hong Kong (1800
INR ticket) and 3 hour from Macau (2500 INR ticket). Students will have advantage of visiting many places
nearby during their programme. Apart from that, there are direct flights to Singapore, Bangkok, Taiwan,
Malaysia at nominal prices of up to 10,000 INR for return journey.

4. Internationalization

R3: Shantou University has around 19% faculties from various countries. It also has brand new Institute with
Israel. Hence, as international student, one can experience culture from various countries.
