 THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FAMILY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A
COMMUNITY

Pope Francis quoted, “Family is essential to sustaining human and social development.”
Society starts from its smallest unit, which is the family. Family is where an individual first
developed and shaped their selves. Family contributes to the growth of everyone, with the support
of the family to the right path and with morals every member was able to flourish and cultivate
ethics that would help every member to be more ready to face the outside world or to the outside
of their house. The upbringing that a family have reflects to the contribution of every member to
the development of their society. Base on the article that we have read, a healthy family produce
people who makes positive contribution to the community.

Healthy family indeed provide constructive and affirmative members in the community.
As what the article have said, parents tend to contribute to the community because it is the only
way they can control the community their children belong. The parents also tend to be community
giving to become the role model for their children to help other members in the community, also
if a family has a good bond and has a communication with each other, they are able to inform each
other from the events happening in the community. They tend to educate everyone in the family
to make a better decision when it comes to choosing leaders for their community and make the
wisest decision for the good of each and everyone in the community. Family is the foundation of
love, respect and support. It is where everything starts, from shaping a member of the community
to providing a big help to the community through healthy upbringing to every member of the
community. It is clearly seen if a family is healthy or not. I’ve come to realized that when no one
else is there, your family stays by your side which makes us feel the sense of belongingness and if
we have it in our family then we can also give it to other members of community who needed it.
The knowledge, decisions and help that we have from our family could have a big contribution to
our community, because if you have something that someone lacks of then we could share it with
them. There is a quote saying, “You can not give, what you do not have.” If we have everything
given by our family then we could share it to our community or in a bigger aspect.

Family has a big role when it comes to the development of the community, because it is
where the members of the community first came from. The knowledge and help that they could
give reflects upon their family, the upbringing they had for their family. From the education of the
future contributors to the possible leaders of the community. The goodness and rightness of every
member was shaped and developed by their family. Family is a small community where everyone
started to be developed and shaped.
