London denounces Oslo's double oil

dealings
British intelligence is urging the Norwegians to cease collaborating with
Kenya while at the same time supporting the Somalian government with a
view to taking advantage of their oil.

According to information obtained by the Indian Ocean Newsletter, Norwegian diplomats

were recently summoned by the British Secret Intelligence Service,
Service commonly known as
MI6. They were informed that if would be desirable for Oslo to cease playing a double game
MI6
in an attempt to take advantage of the current dispute between Kenya and Somalia. Since
2014, Mogadishu has been contesting the border traced by Nairobi in a region that is
potentially rich in hydrocarbons.

According to our sources, Oslo has retained the services of Drum Cussac,
Cussac the maritime
security firm set up by the ex-Scots Guard Jeremy Stampa Orwin,Orwin to advise the Kenyan
government. Meanwhile, Somalia has launched the Offshore Somalia Licensing Round, a
transaction to sell off 50 oil areas that was organised in London back in February by the
Norwegian seismic survey firm Spectrum
Spectrum. Likewise, the MoU signed in April 2009 by the
Kenyan foreign secretary, Moses Wetangula,
Wetangula and the Somalian minister for cooperation,
Abdirahman Adishakur Warsame,
Warsame but rejected by the Somalian parliament, was drafted by
Norway's late ambassador, Hans Wilhelm Longva.
Longva

The MoU took Kenya's side in the drawing of the demarcation line with Somalian waters
and committed the signatories to a negotiated settlement rather than arbitration by the
International Court of Justice,
Justice which would very likely rule in favour of Somalia. This would
deprive Kenya of nearly a third of its EEZ, where Nairobi has already authorised the
Norwegian firm Statoil to take control of Area L26.
