Abstract
Having a pet not just helps people emotionally, but it also helps them physically.
It decreases stress, lowers blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, and keeps more
active in this stale life. Evidently, more people are realizing this, and adding a
new member to their family. Hence, a great business opportunity for business.
Having a pet is a lifelong journey for its owner, and there are various segments
of this journey from buying a pet to grooming, eating, washing, cleaning,
playing, relaxing etc.
E-commerce or Online Store is fast gaining ground as an accepted and used
business paradigm. More and more business houses are implementing web
sites providing functionality for performing commercial transactions over the
web. It is reasonable to say that the process of shopping on the web is
becoming commonplace.
Our project “Pet Zilla” is a pet’s webstore where you can buy pet as well as pet
accessories, food, cages etc. and you can also ask questions or tell us
problems about your pet and we shall provide you with the best guidance we
can.
Clear Statement of the Problem
In Pakistan buying a pet and pet products is a hard job because there are less
stores, less knowledge of breads and care. Its also very hard to find quality pet
food. Our webstore will try to solve this problem by providing a platform to the
customers where they can find everything related to pets at one stop.
Objectives
The general objective of the project is to design and develop an online store
dedicated to pet owners and lovers which will help them get all the stuff
related to their pet at one place. The users will be able to view different
products, get introduced to new products and accessories, can purchase
quality food from well-known international brands and as whole they can get
everything related to pets at one place.
The project will also help the company to become more popular by marketing
their business to the internet world which has no boundaries and no limits.

The project has the following specific objectives:

• Provide one stop shopping related to pets.
• Develop an online catalog of products.
• Provide the customers of a hustle free transaction without going to the
store for buying an item or products.
Motivation
I am a pet lover and having a pet is an exciting experience. Now a day’s pets
are not just kept for pleasure but they have also become a source of part time
income by breeding and selling quality pets.
When some one decides to buy a pet, the problems start.
• From where you are going to buy a pet?
• Is the pet healthy and active?
• Is it a pure breed?
• Is the cost according to the market?
Now if some one has managed to buy a healthy pet in suitable price the
problems just not end there. Now there are some other problems like:
From, where to buy a pet house or cage for your pet?
• Where to buy pet food?
• How to get pet accessories?
• What type of pet products are available?
And many more to come yet. So, our project is a one-click solution to all these
problems.
Introduction
eCommerce – Electronic commerce, commonly known as E-commerce or
eCommerce, is trading in products or services using computer networks, such
as the Internet. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile
commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet
marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI),
inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems.
Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web for at least

one part of the transaction’s life cycle, although it may also use other
technologies such as e-mail.
The study will only focus on the development of ecommerce site (web store).
The web application is capable of managing products information including its
details and price. The application will be developed using HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, PHP and MySQL as its core development tools.
• A complete E-commerce-based website will be developed based on
Content Management technology which will have following features:
• Allow Customers to search items of their choice (for ex: pets,
accessories, food items etc.).
• Products Management. The administrator of the system is capable of
adding, modifying and deleting of products.
Background
This project deals with developing a product catalog website related to pets. It
provides the user with a catalog of different categories available for purchase
in the store. In order to facilitate online purchase, the customer will contact the
company’s contact detail in order to facilitate their orders. The system is
implemented using a 3-tier approach, with a backend MySQL database, a
middle tier of web server (Apache), and a web browser as the front-end client.
In order to develop an e-commerce website, a number of Technologies must
be studied and understood. These include PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS.
This is a project with the objective to develop a basic website where a
consumer is provided with a product catalog application and also to know
about the technologies used to develop such an application.
