Total class time. (40 min.)

The students will be able to:


 discuss the benefits and harms of social media with their pair in limited
time.
Objectives  explain what we should do and what we should not do in social media
within at least two sentences.
 reproduce some sentences which include should and should not by
giving advice to their friends within at least three sentences.
 aware of what the effects of social media.

Activities
Activity Activity Description

The teacher will start the lesson by asking how they are. Then the teacher
Introduction asks some questions such as what kind of social media network they use,
(4 minutes) for what reason they use, what they post on social media accounts.

Warm-Up Students will work as pair and they talk about the positive and the
negative sides of using social media. During the activity students will
(8 minutes) take note and find at least two statement for each of them.
After that teacher separates the board in two parts and write the pros and
cons of social media as phrases and complete the chart according to
students’ answers.

Teacher hands out a reading text which is a dialogue between Carol and
Amy and they are talking about social media. Teacher asks students to
Main Activity read it individually then teacher ask them to answer the true false
questions according to reading text. After they finish questions will be
(20 minutes) answered one by one.
Then, teacher separate the board into two parts again and ask student to
discuss what should we do or what should we take care by using social
media according to hour previous chart (pros and cons of social media in
the warm up activity) as pair and note some sentences. Then teacher ask
and write the sentence on the board. (We should take care what we share
/We should rely on each information online)

The teacher distributes a hand out which include a self-evaluation form
Follow-up Activity that shows what kind of a social media user you are. Student will
(8 minutes) complete it and at the end they will calculate their score and read the
given description for their score. Then teacher ask them to give their
result to their friends next to them and she wants them to write
suggestions to their friend considering their result. Their suggestions will
be three sentences long at least. At the end, volunteer will share their
scores and suggestions.

Assessment Teacher ask student to write a compare and contrast paragraph about
(Homework) positive and negative sides of social media. It will include 100-150
words.

If the students have a trouble about any kind of activity, the teachers will
