Portfolio Reflection

As a writer, I would say that when it comes to my written essays they are very straight

forward, and I don’t like to write about things I am not fully informed on. Usually in my

literature pieces, before I even start writing I read the topic multiple times just to make sure I

completely understand what I want to focus on. When writing my essays, I like to engage with

the reader and be very knowledgeable of the subject. As a scholar or student, I am very

motivated and determined to get through my classes with good grades. I work hard on

assignments when it is required, and I understand the importance and value of education. In this

semester alone I believe that my writing has improved monumentally. I have better

understanding of the structures I need to have in different essays, and how they affect the

audience’s view. Also, I understand the types of essays in general and their differences. When it

comes to the Argument, Rhetorical Analysis, and Synthesis essays I now know what they mean

and how to correctly write each one. In the future of my academic career I want to be able to

write essays faster with deeper sophistication in my topics. A good goal for me to have is just to

not be so bothered by essays, and to embrace them as opportunities to do well and create

something that I can be proud of. In total, I feel like I have grown as a more complete writer and

I am better when it comes to rhetorical strategies. This semester has developed my ability write

essays and comprehend literature.
