Installation window server 2003

Windows Server 2003 is an operating system designed for users who want to create a network
that multiple computers can access. If you want to create a network, follow these instructions to
install Windows Server 2003 on the computer you've selected to be your server machine.

1. Click on “New”. A new wizard “Create New Virtual Machine” will appear. Click on “Next”
button.

2. Give a name to your virtual machine. Select Operating system and Version of Windows
Server you are installing. Click “Next” button.

3. Select the memory you want to give to the virtual machine. If you are having 3 GB RAM
then you can give 256 MB to your virtual machine. If you have more RAM on your PC then you
can select the RAM according to that. More memory means your virtual device can handle
more processes without any hassle.

4. On a next screen, select “Create new hard disk” option and then click on “Next” button.

5. Click “Next”.

6. If you have low disk space then you can select “Dynamically allocated” in storage
type. You can also select “Fixed-size storage” for better performance. Click “Next”.

7. Select the location of virtual disk. You can make virtual disk on any volume of your
computer. It’s not necessary to select C Drive only. Choose the size of hard disk as 2.00 GB (if
you have enough hard disk space). Windows server takes only less than 3 GB of your hard disk
increase in size of active directory will increase the size of virtual disk location. So it is good idea
to keep the size more than required. Click “create”.

8. Now right click on the Windows Server icon given on the left pane and select “Start” from
the right click menu.

9. Now select the icon file of Windows server 2003 from the location where you
kept it. Click “start”.

10. Press “ENTER” to continue

12. Press”f8”to agree the license agreement

13. Now select the partition where you want to install Windows. It should un partitioned
space. Click Enter.

14. Now select the file system using which you want to format the partition. Select
NTFS file system and press Enter.

15. It will start formatting the partition.

16. Now the installation of Windows Server will start. It will take some time to install. You
can check the remaining time on a left pane.

17. Click "Next" on the screen titled "Regional and Language Options."

18. Enter your name and organization on the next screen and click "Next." Then,

19. Enter the product key that came with your CD

20. Click the radio button next to "Per server" and enter the number of connections to your
server that you will need. Click "Next."

21. Change the computer name and to continue without Administration password”Next”

22. Select your time zone (Nairobi) and click "Next."

23. Configure your network settings by choose "typical settings" then “Next."

click "Next."

1. File Server Configuration

Step1.open “Manage your server” then, ”add or remove a role”

Step2. Make sure you have completed all preliminary steps and click next

Step4.If necessary, set up disk quote. But we leave it. Click “Next”

Step 12. WINS server computer running window can use wins server to convert
NetBIOS computer name to IP address. Then full fill the server name with IP
address
