 SECTION 05500 – PLOWING, CREATING ROUGHNESS OF
OLD ROAD SURFACE

1. WORK DESCRIPTION
This work involves roughing and paving the existing road surface to create a link
between the existing pavement and the new pavement.

For the old pavement area being assessed as damaged, it is necessary to remove
all existing pavement structures and replace them with new ones as designed.
The excavation of the old road surface is in accordance with the instructions in
03200-digging foundation works.

2. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
This work must be carried out by machine or hand to create longitudinal grooves
with average size width x depth = 5 x 2 cm, groove spacing is 20cm. When the
current pavement lies on a large vertical slope (> 4%), grooves should be made
horizontally with the same pattern as longitudinal groove. In the case of plowing
the old road surface causing damage to the asphalt layer, it must be removed and
the Contractor must pay all repair costs.

All unloaded material must be collected at the site for the Investor to use or must
be dumped in accordance with instructions of the Engineer.

3. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

3.1 Measurement:

The volume is measured for payment, will be the area of current roughened
asphalt layer as directed by the Engineer. If the Engineer requests to remove
multiple layers separately, then each transferred layer will be measured and paid
separately. If the Engineer instructs that the entire thickness of the existing
asphalt layer must be removed, this work shall be in accordance with the
requirements of Article 03200-Digging of foundation work.
3.2 Pay Item:

 The determination of volume and payment must be in accordance with the

structure of the price list in the contract between the investor and the contractor.

 Only measure and determine the volume to be tested for the work items included
in the approved construction drawing file (except for cases where the approved
workload of the investor)

 Payment: Based on the actual work volume already accepted. This volume must
be consistent with the volume in the approved construction drawing & volume in
the Procurement Prospectus. Payment at the approved bid-winning price and

 based on the contract between the investor and the contractor.

 The arising volume shall be handled according to the current regulations.
