Q1. List the steps involved in capturing video, compressing the video, and preparing it
for DVD. Briefly discuss the decisions you need to make with each step regarding
compromises on image quality and other limiting factors ?

Answer

First of all to capture video, need a Camera. There are few things to consider before
capturing a video.
 Quality
 Playback Time
 Video Resolution
First you must use some recording hardware or software and collect footage, when you have
edited it in Premier Pro you must export (ctr+M) and then use other software to export to
disk (?)
You need to consider about the recording time and playback time according to the audience.
And the quality depends on the purpose of your video. Mobile device it’s not required more
quality, but it also depend on audience. If video resolution is poor no one will watch these
days. However both this Quality & Video Resolution depends on the media that is going to
share. If it is share through web, video must be medium quality and the file size should be
low. This is compulsory.
During all this time you will have to consider the total definition of what you are producing.
'If you use an old video recorder from 5 years ago you are going to get crappy quality video
and audio. But if you use something like the Sony handheld HDV camcorder you will get
AMAZING quality, but the tradeoff is that $6,000 price.
And when you come to exporting it you will have to think about quality vs file size, if i were
to export a roughly 30 second clip.
So the higher the quality the more the file size, and if the file size is too large it would be a
pain to distribute.

Q2. Discuss how the computer monitor image differs from a television image. List the
limitations in creating images on the computer destined for a television screen ?

Answer
Computer monitors don't differ from TV's too much they are both screens generally the
only difference is the size, another thing is it is amazingly simple to plug my computer into
my TV and use it as a monitor. the only thing to be careful about is to make sure it is
high enough def for the TV (these days 1080P should do it good enough)
Limitations

 Color Palates
 Pixel size are defer (1x Monitor / 1.06x TV)
 Resolution
Q3. Discuss several considerations in shooting and editing video for multimedia. What
techniques would you use to produce the best possible video, at a reasonable cost?
Which of these techniques apply to all video, and which apply specifically to
multimedia?

Answer

Personally i say it depends on what type of video you want so in my case i am going to say a
kill montage, the best technique to use is to use something like destroy and record
your game-play of a game you are awesome at (Planeside 2) and then after about 10 hours go
through all the footage and export the awesome kills and mesh them all together and add
music :D (then upload to YouTube and become famous)(hopefully)(unlikely)
To produce a best video these techniques should follow.
 Concept/purpose of video
 Script
 Lighting
 sound
 Composition
 postproduction
 Basic Video rules (180o plane)
 Storyboard

Q4. Briefly discuss what defines the quality of a video signal. What factors affect this
quality? How do the various analog television signal formats differ in quality? How
does the recording format affect this quality? What about digital format? How can you
ensure that your video is of the best possible quality? If the end result is going to be a
postage-stamp-sized streaming video clip at 10 frames per second, why would
quality matter?

Answer

 Frame Rate
 Aspect Ratio
 Frame Rate
Size of the frame the color span, the amount of key frames per second and how fast
the audio runs all define the quality of a video signal, if the video is digital you will probably
get a better picture because it tells the pixel to be on or off compared to what color to be. and
the recording can affect the quality because if the cam is uber shaky you will get tones of
motion blur. to insure best quality use best settings and gear it’s that simple. and if you get
10 FPS it’s not worth watching even if it is awesome quality.
5. Define codec and list an example of a codec ?

Answer

Codec is short for "coder-decoder." It is an algorithm used to encode data, such as an audio or
video clip. The encoded data must be decoded when played back.
A media codec is not equivalent to media compression, since it is possible to encode a file
without compressing it. However, most codecs do compress the original data, reducing the
size of the original file. This is important for multimedia files, since they often have large file
sizes. Compressed files take up less disk space and can be downloaded more quickly.
