1. Introduction
ChalkBox3 is an annotation application with which you can write,
draw, and erase with the move of a pointer using your own screen
as the blackboard. There are basically three modes of operation for
ChalkBox3 : the Desktop Mode, the Instant Annotation Mode and
the Note. On the Instant Annotation Mode, you can make any
annotations on the captured desktop screen. The Note can be used
when you need more annotations. The Note supports saving,
exporting and printing also.

2. Quick Launcher
The Quick Launcher is created on both sides of the screen when you
launch the chalk box. You can move up and down using the touch or
mouse. The Quick Launcher has three basic icons as shown in <PIC
2-1>.

First, when you touch or click Instant Annotation icon, the Instant
Annotation Mode starts on the screen currently in use. You can make
an annotation on the screen, crop the desired area, and paste it into
the Note.

Second, when you touch or click the Crop icon, you can crop the
desired area on the screen and paste it to the note.

Third, When you touch or click the Note icon, the Note will be
executed. In the Note, you can make an annotation, export and print
out the notes.

In setting menu, you can add the 'ESC Virtual Key' and the ‘Page-
turning Virtual Key' icons to the Quick Launcher. <PIC 2-2>

3. Instant Annotation Mode
When you touch or click the Quick Launcher's the Instant Annotation
Mode icon, the Instant Annotation Mode is executed, and an icon bar
is displayed as in <PIC 3-1>.

There are five groups of icons in the Instant Annotation Mode.

Exit icon : Touch or click the Exit icon to exit the Instant
Annotation Mode and return to Desktop Mode.

Undo/Redo Icon : touch or click the icons, you can


undo or redo the previous execution.

Pen / Eraser Icon : touch or click the pen or eraser icons. you can
select desired pen or eraser. There are four pens that can be used:
Chalk, Maker pen, Highlighter, Crayon, Watercolor brush, Outline
pen, Indicator, and No action pen. If you need a pen other than the
basic pen, touch or click the selected pen once again, and you can
use various pens.

Crop Icon : Touch or click the crop icon to cut out the desired
screen area and paste it into the Note. You can crop and
paste it into the current page of the Note, paste it into a new
page of the Note, copy it to clipboard, and save it as a file.

Color and Thickness Icon : Touch or click the icons to select the
desired color and thickness of the pen.

4. Crop
Touch or click the crop icon to cut out the desired screen area and
paste it into the Note. There are three options in the Crop Mode. You
can crop and paste it into the current page of the Note, paste it into a
new page of the Note, copy it to clipboard, and save it as a file. You
can crop the desired screen area with or without background. You
can crop the desired screen area with or without ‘Automatic Snap’.

5. Note
In Desktop Mode, touch or click the Note icon of Quick launcher to
launch the Note as shown in <PIC 5-1>.

Note page & Add Icon : In Note Mode, You can navigate the
pages of the Note and add a new page using the side bar
menu of the Note. <PIC 5-1>.

Menu Icon : Touch or click the menu icon of the note to use
the menu like <PIC 5-2>.

Touch or click the Menu Icon, the setting menu window will be created
as shown in <PIC 5-2>.

Features available in the menu include “Make a new


note”, “Note Properties”, “Record”, “Export As”,
“Print”, “Backup and Restore”, “Setting” and
“Closing”.

Touch or click Export to create a window like <PIC


5-3> and save the selected page as a PNG or JPEG
file.

Touch or click Print to print the selected page as


shown in <PIC 5-4>.

6. Note Properties
In the Note Properties window, you can change the background color
of notes like <PIC 6-1>.

7. ChalkBox Pen
There are four types of pens available in the Instant Annotation Mode
and Note, which can be set in duplicate

Pen Types

1) Chalk : Used for Chalk

2) Marker Pen : Used for Plain annotation

3) Highlighter : Used for highlighting with a semi-transparent pen

4) Crayon : Used for Crayon Style annotation

5) Watercolor brush : Used for Watercolor Style annotation

6) Airbrush : Used for Airbrush Style annotation

7) Outline pen : Used for Outline Pen Style annotation

8) Indicator : Used for temporary writing.

9) No Action : Use for a real board marker or chalk

The desired pen can be added and deleted, If you touch or click the
selected pen once again as shown in <PIC 7-1>.

8. Pen Color
There are four basic colors available in the Instant Annotation Mode
and the Note, such as <PIC 8-1>. If you need a color other than the
basic color, touch or click the selected color once again, and you can
use various colors like <PIC 8-2>.

9. Pen Thickness
There are a total of 6 default pen thickness available in the Instant
Annotation mode and the Note as shown in <PIC 9-1>. Touch or click
the thickness once again, you can change the default thickness as
shown in <PIC 9-2>.

10. Eraser Thickness
There are a total of 6 default eraser thickness available in the Instant
Annotation mode and the Note as shown in <PIC 10-1>. Touch or
click the thickness once again, you can change the default thickness
as shown in <PIC 10-2>.

Touch or click Eraser All to erase all writing at once.

11. Select Object
Touch or click the Select Icon to select available objects in a note.
The selected object can be cut, copied, pasted and moved. In
addition, various functions can be used as shown in <PIC 11-1>.

12. Record Screen
You can record the PC screen using "Record" in the Note like <PIC
12-1>. During recording, the Recording icon appears on the bottom
and the Quick Launcher. When recording is stopped, the video clip is
automatically saved in the ChalkBox3 folder of My Documents.

13. Export As
You can save the desired page of the Note as a picture (JPEG or PNG
file) using "Export" in the Note like <PIC 13-1>.

14. Print
You can print desired page of the Note using "Print" in the Note like

15. Backup and Restore
You can back up or restore your Note using "Backup and Restore" in
the Note like <PIC 15-1>.

16. Setting
Touch or click the setting in the Note menu to create a setting
window. The setting window has 4 tabs.

First, you can select desired Language and "Run ChalkBox3 on


Windows startup" in the General tab like <PIC 16-1>

Second, in Quick Launcher tab, you can set


the "Use Quick Launcher", "Automatic hide
Quick Launcher", "Use ESC
Virtual-Key" and "Use Page

shown in <PIC 16-2> .

Third, in Recording tab, you can make various choices for PC
screen recording such as codec, video quality and resolution
to use for video recording as shown in <PIC 16-3>

Fourth, you can check the version information and enter the product
key of Chalk Box 3 in the Properties tab as shown in <PIC 16-4>
