The minimum development length required (Ld) = (0.87*Fy*Ф)/(4*τbd)

Dia of bars used (Ф) = 25 mm

For M20 concrete designed bond stress(τbd) = 1.2 N/mm2
For Fe-415 used it is increased by 60% for deformed bars used.
Which is also again increased by 25% for compression bars.
For compression (τbd) = 1.2*1.6*1.25 = 2.4 N/mm2
For Tension (τbd) = 1.2*1.6 = 1.92 N/mm2
Fy = 415 N/mm2
So,The minimum development length (Ld) required for mm
Compression steel = 940.234 mm
Tension steel = 1175.293 mm
But the diameter of rod should provided such that

Check for shear and design of vertical stirrups

(Clause 40.1,40.2.3,26.5.1.6, 40.3.1 and 40.4,Table-19 and 20,IS:456-2000)
Factored shear force at mid span (Vu) = 15.571 KN
Tortional moment at mid span (Tu) = 3.831 KN-m
Equivalent factored shear force at mid span (V e) = Vu+1.6*Tu/B
= 42.221 KN
Equivalent nominal shear stress of concrete ( τv) = Ve/B*d

= 0.503 N/mm2

Percentage of tensile steel of mid span(Ast) = 0.187 %

Design shear strength of M20 concrete for 0.187% steel(τc) = 0.311 N/mm2
Maximum shear stregth of M20 concrete (τc,max) = 2.8 N/mm2
Since,
τv > τc and
τv < τc,max

Hence, shear reinforcement is to be designed

Required capacity of shear reinforcement(V us) = Ve-τc*B*d

Assuming 2-legged 8 mm Ф vertical stirrups

Therefore,

Asv,min = 96.939 mm2 < 100.531 mm2 ,Hence ok

Hence, 8 mm Ф two legged vertical stirrups @ 250 mm C/C is to be adopted .

According to IS:13920-1993,Clause-6.3.5

Hence,8mm Ф two legged vertical stirrups @100 mm C/C is provided up to the distance

stirrups @250 mm C/C isprovided .And the distance of first hoop should be at a distance of 40

Check for development length

(Clause 26.2.1 , 26.2.1.1 , 26.2.2.1 , 26.2.2.2 and 26.2.3.3,IS:456-2000)
The minimum development length required (Ld) = (0.87*Fy*Ф)/(4*τbd)

Dia of bars used (Ф) = 16 mm

For M20 concrete designed bond stress(τbd) = 1.2 N/mm2
For Fe-415 used it is increased by 60% for deformed bars used.
Which is also again increased by 25% for compression bars
For compression (τbd) =1.2*1.6*1.25 = 2.4 N/mm2
For Tension (τbd) = 1.2*1.6 = 1.92 N/mm2
Fy = 415 N/mm2
So,The minimum development length (Ld) required for

Compression steel = 601.750 mm

Tension steel = 752.188 mm
But the diameter of rod should provided such that
Ld ≤ 1.3M/V+Lo (Clause 26.2.3.3(c),IS:456-2000)
Additional anchoraage length (Lo) =Equivlent length of hook(X1)+Equivalent embedment length

Here,
Support width(sb) = 230.000 mm
Clear cover(cc) = 27.000 mm
Equivlent length of hook(X1) = sb/2-cc-3Ф
= 40.000 mm
For 90˚ bend Equivalent embedment length = 8Ф
= 128.000 mm
So, Lo = 168.000 mm
Moment of resistant offered by tension steel provided
M = 0.87Fy*Ast(dx-Fy*Ast/Fckb)

Maximum shear force at face (Vmax) = 42.221 KN

Hence ok.

So,adopt anchorage length(Ld) of 800 mm

Anchorage length needed = Ld + 10*db = 800+10*16 = 960 mm

In an internal joint,

Hence anchorage length of 960 mm for both top bar and bottom bar should

Mt = Tu*((1+D/B)1.7)

Therefore

Therefore equivalent bending moments are

Therefore equivalent bending moments are

Ast,max = 1238.151 mm2
Ast,max/4 = 309.538 mm2 (clause 6.2.4,IS:13920-1993)

The minimum tension steel ratio at any face

ρmin ≥ 0.24*(Fck)0.5/Fy
ρmin ≥ 0.24*(20)0.5/415
ρmin ≥ 0.259 %
Therefore , Ast,min ≥ 0.259/100*350*615
≥ 557.4975 mm2 >309.538

The maximum steel ratio at any face

ρmax ≤ 0.025 25 20 dia
Therefore , Ast,max ≥ 0.025*350*615 490.874 314.159 1-bar area

Design of curtailment
1) For top bars
Ast,max = 722.705 mm2
Ast,max/4 = 180.676 mm2 (clause 6.2.4,IS:13920-1993)

The minimum tension steel ratio at any face

ρmin ≥ 0.24*(Fck)0.5/Fy
ρmin ≥ 0.24*(20)0.5/415
ρmin ≥ 0.259 %
Therefore , Ast,min ≥ 0.259/100*350*615
≥ 557.4975 mm2 >180.676

The maximum steel ratio at any face

ρmax ≤ 0.025
Therefore , Ast,max ≥ 0.025*350*615

Hence, Entire area of steel required = 560.000 mm2

Ast,max/4 = 140.000 mm2 (clause 6.2.4,IS:13920-1993)

The minimum tension steel ratio at any face

ρmin ≥ 0.24*(Fck)0.5/Fy
ρmin ≥ 0.24*(20)0.5/415
ρmin ≥ 0.259 %
Therefore , Ast,min ≥ 0.259/100*350*615

1) For top bars
Ast,max = 322.176 mm2
Ast,max/4 = 80.544 mm2 (clause 6.2.4,IS:13920-1993)

According to IS:13920-1993,Clause 6.2.1,6.2.2,6.2.3 and 6.2.4)

The minimum tension steel ratio at any face
ρmin ≥ 0.24*(Fck)0.5/Fy
ρmin ≥ 0.24*(20)0.5/415
ρmin ≥ 0.259 %
Therefore , Ast,min ≥ 0.259/100*230*365
≥ 217.4305 mm2 > 80.544
The maximum steel ratio at any face
ρmax ≤ 0.025
Therefore , Ast,max ≥ 0.025*230*365
≥ 2098.75 mm2 > 80.544
Hence, Entire area of steel required = 217.431 mm2
