INTRODUCTION

Bayanihan Spirit. This has been the ultimate endeavour that is being brought by the annual Brigada Eskwela
(BE) in order to maintain schools and prepare them for the opening of another school year. Thousands of parents,
alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who
volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary
schools are being mobilized to participate in this program of the Department of Education. These participants do
their share in magnifying the spirit of communal unity while achieving a common goal. It is also being manifested
in this year’s BE theme, “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan”.

This year, Betis High School, being one of the public schools here in the Division of Pampanga, prepared
a different kind of Brigada Eskwela that extends from its usual scenario to a more colourful and engaging one. From
its planning stage to its implementation, the BE team of Betis High School, as well as its teaching force, worked
hand in hand to make it happen.

Planning Stage. The BE team had its meeting regarding the goals that must set, the targets to be
accomplished and the people to get engaged with in order to maximize time and resources. Each member of the
team was given the tasks in order to have a concrete budget of work.

Prior to the opening of Brigada Eskwela, the BE team, particularly in the Advocacy and Marketing
committee, made a move through media like CLTV 36 as well as ABS-CBN to promote the school’s Brigada and
to encourage more people to participate in the said activity.

Brigada Eskwela Opening. In the break of dawn last May 20, 2019, the BHS teaching force, participants
from the 4Ps, representatives from the different organizations and groups joined the parade for the opening of
Brigada Eskwela. Representative from the Guagua Police Station assisted the participants during the parade.

Brigada Eskwela Dancers. One of the highlights during the opening of Betis High School’s Brigada
Eskwela are the dancers who served as front liners during the parade. They were choreographed and trained by Mr.
Ramises Rutao. The dancers were not students from Betis High School, but answered “yes” in the school’s invitation
for the BE parade.

Brigada Sagala. This has been the main attraction during the BE opening parade of Betis High School. Six
muses and one escort graced the event. Dressed in fabulous gowns, the first three muses were from Betis High
School, the fourth muse was a guest participant and the Reyna Elena was the crowned 2019’s Queen of Hearts, Ms.
Charie M. Brutas, escorted by her partner, 2019’s King of Hearts, Sir Mark Anthony C. Castro. Both are currently
members of the faculty of Betis High School.

Brigada Eskwela Kick-off. Brigada Eskwela was from May 20 – May 25, 2019. After the parade, an
opening program took place and Ma’am Eloisa C. Lusung, the school principal, gave her opening remarks and
sincerest thanks to all the participating institutions who help and assist the school during Brigada Eskwela. During
these BE days, teachers and volunteers, helped one another in cleaning the school. Through the donated materials,
classrooms were polished and repainted. Chairs, windows and other materials in need of repair were repaired as
well.

Closing Ceremony. During the last day of Brigada Eskwela, the school’s BE Coordinator thanked all the
participants who shared their time and efforts in making 2019 Brigada Eskwela a successful one.
