1.

SENSE ORGANS

1.1-GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson plan students will be able to:
*Identify and describe the five sences.
*use their sences to identify common objects found in and arround the
classroom.
*State the function of the sense organs

1.2-SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
After this lesson the students will be able to know about:
*Importance of senses.
*Sense organs.
*Disorder in the sense organs.

1.3-TEACHING AIDS/RESOURCES:
*White board.
*Marker
*Duster
*Chart of sense organs
*Poiter
*Textbook
1.4- PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:
Before the start of the lesson I stood in the front of the class ane perform some
unsual actions such as whistling and moving my arms arround. After getting
attention I asked the students.
*What they saw or heard
*If you bite an ice_cream cone, what does it taste like.
*If someone is cooking, what might you smell?
*If you close your eyes, to the riht and open them, what do you see?
*Hows your pet a kitten feels?

1.5-TOPIC DECLARATION:
On the basis of these questions I announced my topic.Dear students today we
will study about sense organs and their function such as:
*Fyes for sight
*Nose for smell
*Tongue for taste
*Ears for hearing
*Hands for touch

1.6-PRESENTATION

1.6.1-EYES:
A good sense of sight is achieved by healthy eyes.Eyes are the organs of visual
system.Eyes provide vision ane the sense of sight to the human beings, animals,
birds, fishes etc.The eyes color can vary from brown to blue. However, eyes are
sensitive to light.Human eyes vary in color depending on the aount of melanin in
the body.Photoreceptors present in the eyes retina are what translate light into
image. The optic nerves are carrying impulse to the brain.
Blindness of the eyes is caused by injury to the eye ball, damages to the optic
nerve and trauma to the brain.

1.6.2- NOSE:
The organ for the sense of smell is nose.Nose has nostrils, we breathe in
through nostrils. The olfactory system is responsible for our sense of smell and
nose is also known as olfactory organ.Usually, animals have a strong sense of
smell than human beings. However, human beings can also smell thousane of
various odours and fragrance. The nose is also an organ which help us in uhe sense
of taste, for example we can smell a gas leak. There are hundared of oifactory
receptors that interpret the smell around. When we smell a substance it produce a
nerve impulse which is transported through the ofalctory cells, then to the
olfactory nerve fiber, then to the olfactorx bulb ane ultimately to the
brain.Anosmia is the disorder in which we are unable to smell

1.6.3- TONGUE:
The organ for the sense of taste is tongue. The tongue has various receptors
which can detect whether the item consumad is salty, sweet, bitter or sour. The
behind part detect salty taste, the side part detect sour taste and the middle and
front part detect sweet taste. The small bumps on the tongue are the papillae, the
taste buds are present between the papillae which are acting as sensory
organs. The disorder of the tongue that makes it unable to taste is called ageusia.

1.6.4-EAR:
The organ for sense of hearing is ear.Hearing is the ability to percieve sound by
detecting vibration changes in pressure of the sorronunding medium through
time, through an organ such as ear.For example, we hear music through ear
phones which are intreste into our ears.Total or partial ability to hear is known as
hearing loss. The vibrations produced are transmitted through a medium such as
air.
These vibrations are carried on from the ear drum through the tiny bones named
as malleus, incus and stapes.Mechanoreceptors in the inner ear turns vibrations
into electrical nerve impulses.Impulse is then sent through cochlea to the eighth
cranial nerve then to brain.Deafoness is the inability to hear.

1.6.5-SKIN:
Skin is the outer cover of our body and is the largest sense organ. It is made up
oe two main layers.
A: EPIDERMIS:
It is the outer layer and contains three layers of cells.
B:DERMIS:
It is the lower layer which contains sweat and oil glands, blood vessels, fat, nerve
endings and sensory cells called receptors.

FUNCTION:

With the help of sensory cells, the skin sences touch, pain, pressure and
temprature. It protects the organs of the body
* HOME WORK:

At the end I will give them home work.

1: Draw the diagram of eye, ear, skin, nose and tongue.

2: What is the structure of human eye?
3: Explaim the mechanism of hearing.
4:Which organ is used for tasting?

*WHAT PROBLEM DID I FACE? AND HOW DID I TACKLE IT?

=> Lack of the time was the serious problem which I faced.I tackle this problem by
showing models and charts.

=>STUDENT REFLECTION<=
During my lesason, students ask me some questions such as:

1_ What is sensory cell?

2_ What is nerve?
3_ How do we see?
