Angkong Dimsum House's siomai and dumplings is waltzing in the UST meal scene for its
fourth consecutive year. Angkong has become a paradise for students from the University of Santo
Tomas (UST), who look for inexpensive but quality food. Beginning from a small business in
January 2015. An initial peek at the dimsum place’s humble setting will not make you think it's
the Angkong everyone has been buzzing about online. The place was not set in a fancy
environment this is mainly because of Angkong’s management cutting down on cost to be able to
sell at a lower price. It has a simple setting, nothing too fancy but for me, it reflects exactly how it
feels to be a student in a big city like Manila.

From down to earth but artsy interior models to simple but effective menus, interesting and
creative thoughts will assist the businessmen maintain pace with increasing food sector
competition, but who imagined the game will be changed by a modest low-cost location close
Padre Noval Street? Maybe it is the dim sum that gives you an authentic flavor that doesn’t taste
like a lot of fillers and tastes like the real thing. It gives off that fresh taste of freshly handmade
dimsum. The salty yet delicious flavor your meat has. In contrast to the majority of dimsum places,
Angkong can serve dumplings and Siomais who have no overwhelming taste of flour and
preservatives in their products. The authentic feel of the place gives its customers the impression
that Angkong is home. From the cold, material and consumer inclined appeal of the city, it is nice
to something out there feels authentic.

This siomai place has always shown that they were not listed for nothing. Most Thomasians
enjoyed their well-known "fried dumpling" for its crispness in every bite. Four delicious dumplings
and a cup of tea are available for only P55.00. Saturate your siomai cravings anytime in P.Noval,
But only some people can appreciate "dine in" experience because of the limitations of the venue's
size of the location. Despite its restricted room, Angkong has never failed in managing to
incorporate their sapid flavors of all the siomai to every happy customer they serve.

Overall, I would like to give three out of five to Angkong Dimsum House. Its simplicity
has captured the hearts of the students along the vicinity of Sampaloc, Manila, including mine, a
good twenty-three kilometers away from the place. But its overall simplicity leaves too much to
be desired. I believe that Angkong has not been able to reach its fullest of potentials and it has the
capability to be more established and or to be able to put more smiles in student’s faces. So, I am
giving it just the three stars for now. If you are looking for a simple space with savory oriental
food and is on a tight budget and happens to be in manila, I would totally recommend this place.

3/5 stars Belarmino, Eiginber
