Moving our
body
Key Learning Area: Health and Physical Education
Outcomes
- Analysing their own and others’ performance using ICT and implementing feedback to enhance performance
- Analyse the specialised movement skills.

Lesson Outcomes
- Analyse specialised movement skills and theory.
- Comparing and contrasting speed dynamic.

Key Knowledge and Skills

- Use feedback to improve body control and coordination when performing specialised movement skills in a
variety of situations (ACPMP080)
- Analysing their own and others’ performance using ICT and implementing feedback to enhance performance
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Capability
- Personal and Social Capability
- Focuses on how movement can be composed and performed in response to stimuli.
- Development of movement skills, concepts and strategies through a variety of games and sports

LESSON STRUCTURE
Time Introduction

To analyse the specialised movement skills and theory behind the 100m sprint. Comparing the speed
dynamics of Usain Bolts’ 100m sprint with your own.
15mins
Show the 100 meters speed dynamics spreadsheet 100m SPEED DYNAMICS (Usain Bolt) – STUDENT
DATA and QUESTIONS

Using lap times, at each 10m mark over 100m.

(Australian Curriculum Lessons, 2019).

Main Content: Task 1
Begin sprints over 100m
20mins Cones set up 10 meters apart for timing purposes
Roles:
- Timekeepers
- Data recorders to input data into excel spreadsheet

Main Content: Task 2

Looking at the 100 meter speed dynamics spreadsheet.
15mins
Students comparing each 10 meter segment with Usain Bolt and other classmates.

Conclusion: Cool down & debrief

Cool down:
10mins Stretches, lower body and upper body.

Class discussion:
- How did we compare to Usain Bolt?
- How could we use technology to improve each segment?

Resources
 Space to set up a 10m running track
 Measuring tape, at least 10m long
 Cones to mark out the start, mid-point and end of your running track
 Slow-motion video recording app installed on your device of choice
 Stopwatch.
 ICT device with a camera

Safety Considerations/Materials

- Ensure there is enough space between students whilst sprinting to avoid collisions.
- The area clear of obstacles.
- Equipment set up appropriately.

Assessment

- Maintain observational assessment to ensure students adequately grasp skills learnt in lesson.
- Provide verbal feedback throughout activities and encourage peer review.
- Utilise informal verbal feedback during and in-between transitions of activities.
