Q1 Ans:- Process Mapping Process Mapping is a diagrammatic presentation of a chain of different action for
a given activity. Different steps are indicated by various shapes like rectangle describes actions, ovals shows
starting points and end points, rectangle indicates actions, invert triangle shows waiting and diamonds
indicates decision points. These symbols are connected by arrows to indicate interactions as well as
directions of the process flow Process mapping is an important tool to achieve institutes stated goals This
method is as carried out to map the activities at KMC & KFV (kangaroo Mother case and kangaroo Father
care) at SNCU in district women’s Hospital Akola. The SNCU had 48 beds capacity while MNCU having 20
beds capacity established in year 2018. The District Women Hospital had daily around 40-50 pediatric OPD.
The KMC & KFC criteria for admission of neonates is having weight of < 2.5 kg stable new born. The stay
period varies from 7-8 days to 1 to 1/1 month depending on the weight of neonates. The discharge criteria is
1.8 Kg weight of neonates. The Flow chart of process is as follows: Admission of mothers having new born
stable baby <2.5 kg wt Training of KMC to mother relative & Counseling Waiting period Mother’s activities At
KMC wwwww Sickness of Mother Breast feeding Self & baby care Relative visit Treatment of Mother
Counseling Rest period Yes No Progression in new born wt Wt gain (1.8kg) Treatment Sufficient level of
action Confidence level of mother Relatives to maintain KMC at Home Discharge from KMC This Flow Chart
helps to explain at visualized sequence of actions for KMC activity. Process mapping improve a process by
finding sources of undesirable out comes. The above flow chart clearly indicates that the achievement of
weight gain of new borne is mainly concerned with mother and neonatal good health. The Stay period can
be shorten by effective treatment of mother & new born. Counseling also plays an important role in babies
progressive weight gain . -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Q2 Ans:- The

Correlation = 0.134298599 per day the relation feeding time per baby. Conclusion: We observe that value of
correlation is 0.13 and which is greater than zero. Therefore, the correlation between mother breast feeding
time per day (x) & weight gain baby (y) is positively correlated. Conclusion : From the above pie-chrt we
observed that, 39% deliveries are ceaser in section. Conclusion : We observe that, above bar diagram
shows that, type of delivery & number of delivery. ----------------------------------------------------- Q-3 Capacity
Planning KMC is

1special way of caring for low birth weight (LBW) Babies it promotes
effective thermal control, Brest feeding, prevention of infection, parental
bonding Components of KMC ? Skin – to Skin contact Early, continuous &
Prolonged skin to skin contact ? Exclusive Brest Feeding Promotes lactation
& facilitates feeding Benefits of KMC
? Increased Brest feeding rates ? Increased duration of Brest feeding ?

1Less stress to the infont ? Stronger bonding ? Deep Satisfaction for mother,
more confident parents

1Thermal control ? Effective thermal control ? Equivalent to conventional

incubator care Capacity Building of KMC

There are 3 Main components of Capacity building of KMC. ? Training : Training of physicians, nurses and
other staff is compulsory. It enhances the confidence of staff to provide effective services. ?

1Educational Material : Information Sheets, Posters & Video Film on KMC

will educate the parents ?

1Furniture : Semi – reclining easy chairs, buds with adjustable back rest

are must essential at KMC Q-4 Ans : Time & machine study as very useful in determining the amount of time
required for a septic activity, work function, or mechanical process. The “ time and motion study” is on
effective tool for measuring the performance of various activities disturbing the quality of services. The basic
principle of this practice is that there are number of methods to perform any activity but the one which is
superior can be determined by observing and analyzing the time consumed to carry out each task or activity
A time and motion study is useful to analyze & interpretation of work efficiency by taking the observations
and time of work Here we study time and motion we take mother is Breast feeding time (x) and find of Wt
.baby (de creased weight) Here ,Value of Correlation Breast feeding time & find wt. of baby (y) is 0.1342 The
value of correlation (r) which is greater than zero Correlation value is positive In time & motion language her
is +ve correlation Value of one variable is increase (time of Breast feeding of mother) then other variable is
also increases (find wt. of baby) Conclusion:- In time & motion language when time of Breast feeding of
mother is increases then wt. of baby is also increase Breast feeding Weight of Time of mother baby
Increases Increases For observing the data, Breast feeding and counseling time of mother is the effect of
find weight gain of baby. A time and motion study is useful to analyze & interpretation of work efficiency by

of Time and Motion Study Patient Arrival By vehicle/ Govt. Ambulance/ Walk in Waiting -15 minutes
Counseling by staff -15-20 minutes Staying Period at KMC - An Week to month Activities like Breast feeding
& baby care 2hr Resting Period 2hr Personal Activities of Mother 2hr Baby care 3hr Wait 2 Improve in Wt of
baby Improvement in baby health Discharge Q-6 Ans : The SNCU DHW Akola is the biggest SNCU in
Maharashtra having bed strength of 48 beds and 20 bed MNCU . The Staffing position of NSCU is as
follows: Sr.No Posts Sanction Posts Filled Posts 1 Medical Officer 9 5 2 Pediatrician 3 3

23 Sister Incharge 1 1 4 Staff Nurse 32 32 5

Staff Nurse (KMC) 4 4 6 Staff Nurse (NRC) 2 2 7 Data Operator 1 0 There are 4 Staff Nurses at KMC. There
Were minimum 5 & maximum 10 new born admitted in NRC. Although the no of staff is less, the incharge
medical officer efficiently managing the duties of staff at KMC. As per the ratio, 3:1 of staff nurses are
essentials at 48 bad SNCU. Also at NRC 5 more staff nurses are required. One Medical social worker is also
necessary for counseling of mother. Also 3 pediatrician are looking at SNCU Babies but two Gynecologists
are necessary look after KMC Mothers. Fifteen supportive staff is required Six Security guards are also
essential for security purpose. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
