Lesson 10 | E
fforts for Peace and the Decision
about The Black Stone
Once the Ka’bah was being rebuilt. The old walls were to be
rebuilt. There was a black stone set in one of the walls was
considered very blessed by everyone as it was a memory of
Prophet Ibrahim . It needed to be reset into its place in one of
the walls of the Ka’bah. Everyone wanted the honour of setting
it into its place and they almost began to fight with one another.
Mutual decision was that the first person to arrive at the Ka’bah
the following day should be given the choice to decide who will
have the honour. By Allah’s will the first person to arrive the
next morning was none other than the Prophet Muhammad
ﷺ. As everyone trusted and loved him, they were pleased to
accept him as the decision maker. The decision that Prophet
Muhammad ﷺmade was very wise. He took a sheet and
placed the Black Stone in the center of it. Thereafter, he told
the leaders of each tribe to hold each corners of the sheet. They
lifted it up together and carried it to the place where the Black
Stone was to be positioned. Prophet Muhammad ﷺthen lifted
it off the sheet and put it into its position. In this manner, every
tribe shared the honour of resetting the Black Stone.

This first revelation placed the duty of Nubuwwah upon the
shoulders of our Prophet ﷺAs a result of which people
wandering a astray for so long would find the path of goodness,
give up idol worshipping and devote themselves only to Allah.
This was a great duty to carry out. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
returned home shaken by the experience and told his wife
Khadeejah what had happened. She immediately comforted
him by saying, “Have no fear, Allah will never destroy you. You
are always doing good, giving charity, helping the poor, giving
support to the orphans and widows, caring for guests, sharing
the burden of others and giving moral strength to the broken-
hearted. What do you have to fear ?”.
