File Structure
• S4M file is unzipped and contents put in this folder.
• Anything in this folder will be zipped up into S4M files
– Keyword files
– States file
– ICs

IPS Confidential 9
File Structure
• DYNSIM Simulation files *.s4m
– The default location is <install root>\User\*.s4m. However, user can save it
anywhere. It is a zipped file which contains the database files (*.mdf, *.ldf),
snapshots (*.aic) if created, *.lst (pressure solver network information), plus
some other files. The file gets unzipped when it opens and runs.
• Backup GUI files *.xml
– Created by clicking on File/Backup. The default location is <install root>\
User\*.xml. To restore a backup file click on File/Restore. Backup files will
save all graphics, ICs and will restore it back to the original layout.
• Keyword data files *.dyn
– Created by only exporting the flowsheet. The default location is <install
root>\ Simulations\SimulationName\*.dyn. To import a flowsheet click on
File/Import. No graphics and ICs are saved, plus when you import it loses the
original layout.
• Engine data files *.dat
– Created by exporting all flowsheets within that engine. Everything else is
identically the same as exporting a flowsheet (*.dyn).
