◆ Result geometries can be imported from any Forming, Welding, or Additive projects.
▪ Self-intersections
▪ Ambiguous faces
▪ Degenerated faces
▪ Duplicated faces
▪ Available options:
• Half model
• Cut plane
• Cut outline
◆ Vectors (e.g. material flow vectors) in the clipped plane can be displayed now, so the
vectors can be evaluated in detail.
▪ Sectors can be expanded to full 360° models or to defined angles (e.g. 30° → 90°).
▪ The symmetry planes can be defined in the widget either via the input mask or by selecting the triangles of the
input geometry. In addition to the manual definition, the widget has an automatic mode (wizard) by which the
symmetry planes from the previous process are adopted. In addition, with an incompletely expanded geometry
(e.g. 30 ° → 90 °), the symmetry planes in the subsequent process can be set automatically.
▪ For errors due to inaccurate input geometries, the angular tolerances and the contact of the symmetry planes can
be adjusted in the expert settings.
▪ Restrictions:
▪ Creo WF3-5
▪ Inventor 2018
▪ NX 12
▪ Parasolid 30
▪ Solidworks 2018
▪ ACIS v28
▪ etc.
▪ Clipping planes
▪ Measuring
▪ Display mode
Import filter
Result evaluation
▪ Shape comparison
▪ Thin out project
▪ Post-particles for deformable tools and additional
workpieces
▪ 2D post-particles
▪ Simplified particle tracking
◆ Added “best fit” algorithm for easy shape comparison between the result shape and the original
geometry or some imported surface.
Status information
THS plot
◆ Symmetrical 3D results can be expanded to any desired angle using "Expand 3D sector".
▪ Enables detailed evaluation and display of the result variables after the analysis.
Right mouse-click
◆ Our idea…
◆ Added visibility control and rendering settings control to view context menu, allowing separate
settings for every object.
◆ Reordered several context menu entries to be more user-friendly.
◆ Added "show only workpiece" to model and result view context menu (right mouse click on the
background).
▪ Easier and faster view control using the new camera toolbar containing all the main view functions.
▪ Camera toolbar also allows an easy and fast synchronization of multiple views.
Boundary conditions
▪ fix displacements,
▪ apply force,
▪ overlap.
▪ single node,
Absolute difference – Selection of nodes from Relative difference – Selection of nodes from
▪ Application possible only for analysis without remeshing during the simulation.
▪ Displacements and loads are applied in one increment (no gradual loading / no tables) -
limited value of the offsets / loads.
Induction heating
◆ Added result variables “effective magnetic permeability” and “relative magnetic permeability“.
General usability
▪ Enhanced Windows remote desktop support
▪ Improved light and shadow effects
▪ 64-bit Simufact Forming GUI
▪ Qt dialogs instead of MFC dialogs
▪ …
In process tree
▪ Improved usability of file selection for “open file” dialogs like CAD, CSV import & export of
multiple GUIs.
▪ Import or export file paths can be saved for certain options (CAD import/export, results, CSV
import/export) in a project.
▪ Saving location for import and export has to be set only once and will always be used
afterwards.
◆ More informative error message during setup appears if the installation path contains unnecessary
spaces.
◆ Installation problems are avoided by showing the list of blocking programs during the setup.
◆ The selected axis for translation and rotation is highlighted in the view for better feedback.
▪ Activating this option will reduce the number of frames to number of recorded increments.
◆ Reworked and harmonized keyboard shortcuts. Please refer to Infosheet → KeyboardShortcuts for
more details.
◆ For example:
▪ Preparation for the future (state of the art) - modern graphics cards
15.0 16.0
◆ Old Fortran modules have either been removed or converted to C ++ (STL import, DAT file writer,
etc.).
▪ significantly better performance while working with large models (remapping, export of particles,
etc.),
◆ Redesigned "Save as" dialog to use common icons and be more user-friendly.
▪ The last used "save as" path will be used for the next "save as".
◆ Redesigned dialog when saving projects (saving path must be set immediately).
◆ Redesigned increase of die components dialog, restart dialog, 2D simulation dialog (axisymmetric,
planar).
Double-click
Stagecontrol overview
◆ Improved model check when temperature effects are enabled with no thermal properties in the
material data.
◆ Model check warning appears when table presses are used without activating time stepping → auto
step for tables.
◆ Model check warning appears if the iterative sparse matrix solver is used in conjunction with shared-
memory parallelization.
▪ Avoids instabilities and issues during simulations with bad material data.
◆ Most of the model check warnings contain a link to the respective dialogs, which can be opened
directly to make the required changes.
Meshing improvements
▪ Improvements in tetmeshing
▪ Improvements in sheetmeshing
▪ Improvements in ringmeshing
▪ Possibility to define more than 10 refinement boxes
▪ Improvements in edge detection (“soft edges” introduced) – min. element edge length value is
satisfied better now.
◆ Step control “fixed time steps" can also be used, this will use fewer calculation steps (increments)
for the simulation, thus the simulation will be partially accelerated.
◆ In the remeshing criteria, the option “strain change" can be increased to 0.6 in order to reduce
remeshings during the simulation.
◆ Min. element edge length = 0.0 corresponds to 1/5 of the basic element edge length
▪ In order to reduce the number of elements and thus to save computing time, the minimum
element edge length can be reduced to 1/3 of the base element edge length.
◆ More than 10 refinement boxes can be defined (initial meshing / remeshing / 2D / 3D) → e.g.
progressive die simulations.
Joining
▪ 2/3 SPR joints
▪ Geometry export from Forming to Joining
▪ Optimized measuring method for RSW processes
◆ Added additional latent heat for evaporation to cover the physical effects and prevent overheating in
thermal and thermomechanical simulations:
▪ Add current stop time to improve measuring of nugget size for RSW
▪ Measure the nugget and everything by using current temperature and not peak temperature
anymore.
Material
◆ Added more options to filter material properties for easier and faster access to material data:
Data exchange
• UNV data import and export
◆ Added new import window for UNV files which now allows easier import if UNV file is written with
some non-standard settings.
3) Selection of proper result type. Usually Simufact Forming reads the result ID saved in the UNV file,
but sometimes this information is missing or incorrect.
4) Selection of unit for a particular result value. Usually this data is present in the UNV file, but
sometimes the information is missing or incorrect.
5) Information area shows if the data refer to nodes or integration points as well as the data type
(scalar, vector, tensor).
6) Filter the list, so that only the lines marked yellow need user interaction.
Solver
Documentation

▪ Default contact type for self-contact is glued
◆ Improved default settings for process type (hot forging) rolling.
▪ Output divisions → equal division: 41
