Abstract. The coastal area of Makassar City has several coastal tourism
potentials that can develop in the form of stretches of beach in the sea such as
Tanjung Bayang. However, in its development, various kinds of problems arise
related to the economy, social and also the environment. Tourism development
in Tanjung Bayang Beach is managed directly by LPM and the community.
However, this waterfront area is experiencing a crisis of facilities both in terms
of facilities and infrastructure. Besides, poorly maintained coastal conditions
had reduced the attractiveness of tourism itself, the many problems that arise
harm the environment, social and economy. Positively affects the level of
sustainability of the tourist attractions of the coastal area of Makassar City.
This study aims to determine the level of sustainability and sensitive variables
(attributes) that in uence the level of sustainability of coastal areas
attractions in Makassar City. The analytical method used is descriptive
qualitative and quantitative methods supported by rap sh application in the
Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) and leverage models. The results showed that
overall, Tanjung Bayang Beach has a reasonably sustainable category. Where
the economic dimension is categorized is entirely sustainable, with the
attributes of tourist attractions being the most sensitive attribute in the
sustainability of the coastal tourism object. The social dimension is less
sustainable, with accessibility as sensitive attributes and environmental
dimensions that are less sustainable, with land use deviations as sensitive
attributes.
