FT -- 18/12/2019 -- SNP -- Unit-1 -- Topic - 1.2 & 1.3.

Topic - 1.2 Classification Of Element For Plant Growth.

Fertilizer is a material necessary for proper development & growth of Plant.

It is classified into 2 parts:-

1. Macro Nutrients.
2. Micro Nutrients.

Topic - 1.3 Macro Elements & Micro Elements.

1. Macro Nutrients:-

It is also classified into two parts:-

i. Primary Elements.
ii. Elements.

i. Primary Element.
It Consists of 3 compounds or elements they are:-

 1. Nitrogen:-
 Nitrogen is essential for plant growth & is a part of every living cell.
 It play's role in Chlorophyll Synthesis.
 Plant take up most of the Nitrogen as Ammonium (NH4+) & Nitrate (NO3-) Iron's.
 Healthy plant often contains 3 to 4 % of Nitrogen above ground Tishue.
 Insufficiency of Nitrogen impact plant tishue colour and appearance.

 2. Phosphorus:-
 it is essential for Plant growth & Plant absorb Phosphorus from the soil as primary and secondary
orthophosphates ( H2PO4 - ) & ( HPO4 2-).
 Phosphorus is noted for its role in capturing and converting the sun's energy into useful plant compound.
 Insufficiency of Phosphorus impact plant tishue colour and appearance.

 3. Potassium:-
 It is one of the essential Nutrient & is taken up in significant amount by Crop's.
 Potassium is Vital to Photosynthesis, Protein-synthesis, and many other functions.
 Potassium is essential in nearly all process needed to sustain plant growth and reproduction.
 Plant deficient in Potassium are less resistant to Drought, excess water & high and low temperature.

ii. Secondary Element.

It Consists of 10 compounds or elements they are:-

 1. Magnesium:-
 Magnesium caries out the Phosphate which are important for the formation of of Nuclear Protein.
 Magnesium is also responsible for Chlorophyll.
 Dolomite Limestone is used for supplement of Magnesium.

 2. Calcium:-
 Calcium act as plant nutrient and correct soil Acidity.
 Calcium is closely associated with the growth of the Flowers.
 The deficiency of calcium result into development of Bud's.

 3. Sulfur:-
 Deficiency of Sulphur decrease the plant grows and Yellowing of Green Plant.
 .......

 4. Borone:-
 It is required in extremely small amount by plant.

 5. Zinc:-
 It is involved in Enzyme system of the plant.

 6. Magazine:-
 Deficiency of Magnesium usually occur in Organic soil and in Alkaline or Highly Acidic soil.

 7. Copper:-
 Copper is associated with plant Enzyme system.
 Deficiency of Copper is associated with Organic soil.

 8. Chlorine:-
 Deficiency of Chlorine can cause Yellowing of Green plant.
 Chlorine is responsible for Stimulate the growth of crops.

 9. Molybdenum:-
 It is associated with functioning of 1 or more Plant Enzyme.

 10. Iron:-

Topic - 1.4 Need Of Fertilizers.

It can we define as quantity of additional nutrient required by a particular crop to increase its growth to optimum
level in a given soil.

After Repeate Cultivation the soil reach to a stage where it becomes Less Productive. In order to make up this
deficiency certain element in the form of their compound have to be added to the soil to make it reproductive.

Fertilizing the land is essential due to following reasons:-

 Provide Nutrient essential for growth and better Yield.

 Maintain the pH of the soil in the range of 7 to 8 for the Optimum Growth.
 Provide Food Supplement to the plant.
