History
• The first contact of China and Pakistan in the history happened in the
Han Dynasty through the silk road connecting the Xinjian province
through Kashgar to Pakistan and Kashmir.

• After the independence of China in 1949, Pakistan was the first
Islamic country to recognize China as the legal government instead of
Taiwan in 1950.

Kashmir Dispute

China has always supported the issue of Pakistan’s claim over

Kashmir issue on every international forum. In 1960s, Pakistan
gave 5180 sq. kilometers of land to China
In return, Pakistan has always supported the China’s claim over
Tibet and Taiwan.

中国一贯支持巴基斯坦在每个国际论坛上对
克什米尔问题的主张。 20世纪60年代，巴基

Pakistan-China Trade

• 1) Due to 1965 war of Pakistan and India, the China supported

Pakistan military openly while US forced embargo.
• 2)After the 1965 war, trade agreement was signed between Pakistan
and China .
• 3)China provided 445 million dollars foreign aid to Pakistan between
1965-1971
Pakistan arranged the first meeting of American President Nixon with the
Chinese President in 1967 to counter Soviet Influence in the region.

The highest paved highway (4714m) was built by the both countries connecting
the Pakistan with Xinjiang Province in 1959 and more than 1000 people were
died.

CPEC ( China Pakistan Economic Corridor)
• 1) A project of “One Belt and One Road ( 一带一路）”
• 2) The project total costs 62 billion dollars and constitutes of many projects like
building highways, electricity generating power plants, and special economic zones.
• 3) It would connect the Kashgar (喀什） and Urumqi （乌鲁木齐））of Xinjiang
Province to the Gwadar port (瓜达尔港） of Pakistan.

2000km)

The CPEC will increase the GDP and lifestyle of western provinces like Xinjiang,
Gansu, Qinghai and others which are low in economic development.
