Title:
Human Cloning should be banned.
Specific Purpose:
To persuade my audience about banning Human Cloning.
Central Idea:
By banning Human Cloning people can save human rights and unique dignity, stay ethically
rightful, avoid health risks and protest destruction of embryos.
Main Points:
1. Introduction:
1.1. Attention:
I got so upset and woke up watching that, and the fact is this might happen to everybody
who would be cloned in future.
It’s now a popular phenomenon of genetic engineering that so many researches had been
done on cloning and when it came to human cloning, it became an issue against human
rights and ethics, against human health safety.
So here today our topic is about human cloning and I would like to persuade you on
banning human cloning. Whereby I will be bringing up the facts and testimony that
human cloning is a serious problem to human kind in this era and also I will be
suggesting you to consider alternatives and take steps to ban it and finally I will persuade
you on the benefits of banning human cloning.
Transition: Let’s now talk about, is the human cloning a problem and if yes how severe is
it? And what facts support this as one of the major problems.
2. Need:
Human cloning is such an issue these days that without banning it there is no other way.
To prove that this is a serious problem to humankind let us get focus on human dignity
and rights and ethical values, the next health risk and destruction and creation of embryos
and finally human psychology towards the issue.
So first of all, in discussing ethics, the inherent dignity of the individual should be made
important since part of human dignity is the uniqueness of that human. Cloning will
remove this uniqueness of the human being thus at the same time, violate the inherent
dignity of humans.
And will the product of human cloning be a person or a just piece of property? Will the
product get same human rights as same with the original person?
The answer is negative. All over the world governments are discouraging human cloning
to be one of their genetic manufacturing sector.
President George W. Bush's President's Council on Bioethics released its first publication
in July 2002: Human Cloning and Human Dignity: An Ethical Inquiry where he strictly
discouraged and warned on banning human cloning.
Secondly, the whole process of human cloning is risky and has side-effects.
The new born baby or cloned product till now has never been succeeded in case of human
cloning technology.
Also for your info, only one lamb named dolly till now been successfully cloned and it
was alive for only 6 years. Therefore you can easily understand whereby the risks of
animal being in cloning is still so strong, how about human being, should they be like this
that they wanna kill themselves?
And thirdly, If cloned human embryos will be considered as humans then it will be a profound
disrespect of human life to continue with the human cloning process since experiments of human
cloning would involve the creation and destruction of human embryos on a massive scale.
So I strongly suggest and persuade you to be aware of human cloning. We should ban this
immediately everywhere all over the world.
3. Satisfaction:
The Church’s bioethics advisor criticized the cloning of human embryos stating that cloning is
similar to what “Nazis tried to do in WWII concentration camps.” This did have a strong
influence; it was the pope who drove former President George W. Bush, a Catholic, to attempt
to ban all forms of cloning in Congress and in the United Nations.
The document on Vatican's web site shows the Church’s official stand on this issue. To
summarize, Vatican is against the research using the embryonic cell.
Secondly other research on human cloning should be banned too. Why? Because even
according to some of them it’s a new invention of genetic engineering, but I suppose if
we let cloning technology go more far with more research opportunity, will for sure lead
to human cloning one day and that day is the time coming when they will be unethical.
4. Visualization:
Lets now imagine what could be happened, how much we could save by banning human
cloning?
Remember Dollys story, the dolly experiment started with 277 fused eggs, of which only
29 became embryos and only 1 of them became Dolly. That was the first and last ever
successful experiment on cloning. But imagine, it resulted death of many embryos.
Imagine, if we ban cloning now, at this stage, how many thousands of embryos, how
many number of embryos individually we can save for the sake of human lives safety?
Don’t you want to take initiatives in avoiding health risks and effects that will be
obtained from human cloning.
5. Conclusion
Action:
So I encourage you to be aware of disadvantages of human cloning and agree with me
that human cloning should be banned. Otherwise in future our world, our planet will be a
manufacturing place of artificially lab-produced cloned duplicates and it will be
incontrollable.
6. Quotation:
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second
time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
