IV. PROCEDURES
A. Establishing Purpose of the lesson (Motivation)
 Task 1: WHICH PICTURE?
1. The teacher will present a pictures to the class and the learner will observe the
pictures.
2. After observing the pictures, the teacher will ask the following question to the learners
A. If you were going to choose from the given pictures. What picture would you choose
the Picture A or Picture B?
B. What are your reasons why you choose those pictures?
C. What do you think is the difference of the two pictures?

V. ENABLING ACTIVITY
I. Introduction

Solar radiation warms the Earth as its energy is absorbed by the atmosphere. In
the atmosphere, there are greenhouse gases present. These include water vapor, carbon
dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. Greenhouse gases prevent heat from escaping the
earth thus making earth’s temperature.

The greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane (CH4),

chlofofluorocarbons (CFCs) and nitrous oxide (N20) trap heat preventing it from escaping
the Earth. All gases absorb heat, although some just absorb more than others. Thus,
assuming solar radiation is constant, the average atmospheric temperature depends on
the mix of gases. More greenhouse gases in the atmosphere means that the equilibrium
temperature will be higher as these gases abosrb more heat. This will result in the increase
of global temperature. Mankind evolved under conditions of a specific mix of gases in the
atmosphere and thrived under these conditions. If the mix of gaes in the atmosphere were
altered considerably, the Earth’s temperature would change significantly and we will be
faced with new conditions that we are not used to, which we will have to somehow adapt
to, or face extinction. Areas that are found in temperate regions may have shorter winters.
Countries that are found in tropical regions may have longer and drier summers. Glaciers
that cover land will melt, which will result in the rise of sea levels.

 Task 2: CO2 is the Reason

The teacher will show a figure that shows the global temperature and carbon dioxide

1. What happened to the amount of carbon dioxide from 1880 to 2010?

2. What is the relationship between the amount of carbon dioxide and global
temperature?
II. Collaborative Activity
 Task 3: Am I a Climate Hero or a Climate Culprit?

1. Each member of the group will compute his/her carbon footprint by using WWF
Philippine’s Carbon Footprint Checklist. (See attached file for the evaluation sheet)

2. Each member should present the data using a bar graph on manila paper.

3. After the presentation each group are task to make an idea on how are they going to
reduce their contribution to climate change.
What You and Your Community Can Do to Reduce Carbon Dioxide?
A. Public Speaking
B. Jingle
C. Poem
D. Ms. Q and A
Kindly See Attached File for the Rubrics

VI.ANALYSIS
After the presentation the teacher will play a video:
Question and Answer:
1. Is climate change is real?
2. Is climate change man – made or is it just a natural occurrence?
3. What are the negative effects of climate change?

VII.ABSTRACTION
Discussion Proper of the Teacher

Climate change is one of the most current worldwide issues. Some experts say that
it is true that the Earth does go through a period of cooling and a period of warming. The
increase of temperature that we are experiencing right now is caused by factors other than
human activity. Another point of view is that the increase of Earth’s temperature is brought
about by human intervention.
Whether the cause is man-made or not, climate change is a change in the
environment. Global warming can bring out a rising of the sea level due to the melting of
ice caps and glaciers. We may experience severe weather disturbances such as stronger
typhoons and heavier rainfalls. Some parts of the world may experience the El Niño or La
Niña phenomena. And most of all, it can cause extinction of some fauna and flora.

VIII. APPLICATION

The teacher will play the song KAPALIGIRAN and after playing the song every
learners are required to create a hashtag to the environment.

IX. EVALUATION
