Naturism , Feminism and Girls

many, be at the top of high-end Caribbean with a Feminist Twist:

I have been reflecting recently about why there aren't more girls, particularly young women,
involved in naturism. In most cases, it's clear we live in a society where individuals are afraid
of nudity, ashamed of it, and deem it just satisfactory during sex or washing. But when it
comes to women and nudity, is there another factor at play called patriarchy? There was a
recent post from a feminist blog entitled "Go Nude; it's good for everybody (but particularly for
girls)" about nudism and feminism that got me thinking.
First, the "naked rambler" story from a feminist perspective. A guy named Nigel Keer was
recently was fined under the Public Order Act for walking naked at Otley Chevin, a popular
nature spot in the united kingdom. That is all he was doing. He was seen by a woman who
had a "distressed frown" on her face, in accordance with the off duty police officer that
stopped him. ( Clearly he was sexually / physically attracted to her. It was interesting to see
how relaxed Chuck appeared. He was sitting with his legs open, relaxed and with the air of
simplicity and innocence. is a lot like the instance of of bare hiker John Cropper, except he
was not seen by anyone else. Perhaps it would have turned out otherwise if your female
witness had been involved.) This woman was never identified, never testified, and not
spoken to. As a feminist would immediately point out, the woman was presumed to be a
"victim," helpless in front of this strolling naked guy. Paradoxically, this policeman unwittingly
transgressed women everywhere by determining this female victim was distressed and
needed his protection.
However, in one of the comments, a woman identified with the female victim. She says,
"Yes, not all men are sexual predators, and walking nude doesn't automatically equate to
predatory behavior, but the sad fact is that many, many girls have experienced sexual
violence at the hands of men and seeing a naked guy when you are outside for a walk could
well make a woman feel threatened, and could even activate her."
Yes, many women have been victims of sexual assault or rape, and I will understand a lonely
woman feeling threatened or affected seeing Nigel. When they attack. It does not make
sense to detain someone for simply "causing alarm" because they're doing something
uncommon.
A alone nude guy is an presumed predator, possibly even a rapist? As the writer, CP Reece,
intelligently comments, rape has nothing related to nudity, but with exercising power over
someone.
Breasts are not even acceptable to reveal in public breastfeeding. Is this why there are not
more young women involved in naturism? If women correlate taking off their clothing merely
with hot modeling, acting, and showing their bodies, then they might believe they have to
look good enough to go unclothed in front of others. Of course looking good means being tall
and thin like the unattainable ideal we see everywhere in the media.
For female nudity, patriarchy appears to play an important role, notably in regards to topless
rights. Indeed girls don't have to cover up breasts because they are breasts, but because
they're girls. "Why?" Reese inquires. Because she's a vagina. It's a sexist, partriarchal law; or
in this case, a sexist norm enforced by this officer, since it is legal to go naked in public in the
united kingdom. It exists in a society in which men hold the power.
But what about male nudity? Will they be outside loving bare hiking before us ladies? Seems
insane, and I hope that won't be the situation..
Referring back to the title, how is naturism great for everyone and especially for women? It
fosters gender equality, which will be particularly excellent for women whose bodies for once
are not being put on display for male enjoyment. (Yes there are guys who will still stare or
join for that purpose, but it's a totally different atmosphere in a true naturist setting. As Reece
says to ladies, "a naturist man will look you in a person's eye!") Naturism also advocates
favorable body image and observes all body types outside the media's ideal. Most people are
naked and equivalent, free of any sexist textile constraints and with much less stereotyping,
ruling, labeling, profiling, etc.
