Verbs are the words in a sentence that indicate an action, a state of being, or possession. Some examples.
They drink tea. You and he are tall. They had two dogs
In English, verbs have three general forms: the infinitive form, the base form, and the conjugated form.
The infinitive form of a verb is always preceded by the word to. The base form is the same as the
infinitive but without to. The base form of the verb is what you look for in the dictionary. The infinitive
and base forms are neutral: There is no tense or person inflected in the verb.

A verb is the action word in a sentence. It is the word that says what happens, discusses an action, or
All Spanish verbs have to be conjugated – they have different forms depending on what the subject is.
In English, we only have a separate conjugation for the third person singular of a verb: "I sing" becomes
1. I am
2. you are
3. he is
In Spanish, verbs have 6 conjugations, one for each subject pronoun (I, you, he, etc.)

Action Verb:
Action verbs, also called dynamic verbs, express an action whether it be physical or mental. An
action verb explains what the subject of the sentence is doing or has done. Looking at examples helps
make it clear the function of action verbs in sentences and what purpose they serve.
The following are examples of how action verbs are used in sentences, keep in mind that you can use
more than one action verb in a sentence. The action verb is underlined in each sentence. Remember that
action verbs don't have to describe movement; the action can be mental.
John visited his friend for a while and then went home.

She lay down on the couch and slept there all night.
The teacher reads a book to her students then asks them questions about the story.
The action verb tells us what the subject of our clause or sentence is doing-physically or mentally.
Helping Verb:
Helping verbs are verbs that help the main verb in a sentence by extending its meaning. They can
also add detail to how time is conveyed in a sentence. As a result, helping verbs are used to create the
most complicated verb tenses in English: the progressive and the perfect aspects. These verbs also

function to convey complicated shades of meaning like expectation, permission, probability, potential,
Helping verbs are important since they are needed to make up the structure of a sentence. They are used
to help the main verb. There are two types of verbs that can be used as helping verbs in English: auxiliary
and modal.
Auxiliary Verbs: Helping verbs that add meaning to the clause where they are being used are called
auxiliary verbs (note that the terms helping verb and auxiliary verb are often interchangeable). They are
used to express tense or to add emphasis. The three common auxiliary verbs have multiple forms:
Be, do, and have can be either standalone or auxiliary verbs. You can tell when these verbs are
auxiliary if they are teamed with other verbs to complete the verb phrase. The following sentences are
Modal Verbs: Helping verbs that perform other specific tasks to further modify the action or meaning
of the main verb are called modal verbs. Modal verbs do not change form. They are:
can

could
may
might
will
would
shall
should
must
ought to
Auxiliary Verb:
Auxiliary verbs are so called because they help to form the various tenses, moods, and voicesof
other verbs. The principal ones are be, do, and have.

Be is used with other verbs to form continuous tenses and the passive voice:
Modal verbs:
There is a further set of auxiliary verbs known as modal verbs or modal auxiliary verbs. These combine
with other verbs to express necessity, possibility, intention, or ability. The modal auxiliary verbs
are must, shall, will, should, would, ought (to), can, could, may, and might. For example:
