Case refers to the form a noun or pronoun takes depending on its function in a sentence.

I. NOMINATIVE/SUBJECTIVE CASE- is used when the pronoun is the subject of the


sentence. The nominative form pronouns are: I, you, he/she, it, we/they.

She was quiet as she entered the museum.

I have a new shirt in the closet.

They could reach us today

You are the apple of my eye.

He has a big chocolate bar.

She runs as fast as a rabbit.

II. POSSESSIVE CASE- is used to show ownership or possession of something. The


possessive form pronouns are: My, mine, our(s), his/her(s), their, its, and yours.

My car wouldn’t start because I left the headlights on.

The cat is scratching its ear.

The house where you’re staying is mine.

The candy bar on the table is yours.

The movie tickets that Auntie Jennifer gave are ours.

Manuel and Janet are taking their pet on a walk this afternoon.

III. OBJECTIVE CASE-used as the direct object, indirect object, or the object of the
preposition. The objective form pronouns are: Me, you, him, her, it, and them.

AS DO:
1. I am teaching him to play the piano.
3. He found you lying by the side of the road.
4. I saw her when she was already a famous actor.
5. We asked them if the new system would actually work.
AS IO:
1. I bought her a new sweater.
2. He will give me a cheat day next week.
3. You should get them something to eat.

AS OP:
1. I mailed the package to him.
2. Did you give the award to her?
3. She bought a new car for you.
4. He had been thinking about purchasing some real estate for them.
5. Do we have to share it with them?

DRILLS:

1. The doctor cannot see you until next week.
