1. Definition
Direction is a homonym because the meanings have the same spelling and
pronunciation but the meaning is different. Directives have meaning in noun classes or
nouns so directives can state the name of a person, place, or all objects and everything
that is subject. The meaning of the word landing according to the KBBI (large Indonesian
dictionary)
There are various ways how we ask for direction or give direction. You can ask for
directions or give directions using the following expressions:

a. I’m sorry, I don’t know
b. Sorry, I’m not from around here.
c. Keep going straight.
d. Turn left/right on the second traffic lights.
e. It’s about …minutes away.
f. It’s …. blocks away.
g. You will pass a bridge/ a fire station/ It’s on your right/left.
3. Dialogue
Admission : As you can see, there is still a line. Please take queue first. We will call
you later. Please take a seat and wait patiently.
Admission : Queue No. 23. (Calling the patient). Excuse me Mam, have you been
here before or is this for the first time?
Admission : If this is the first time, may I borrow your Passport/ Identity Card, Mam

5. Grammar Focus Modals
All modal verbs are auxiliary verbs, which means they can only be used with a main
verb. Modal verbs cannot be a main verb. The modal verbs are; will, would, shall,
should, can, could, may, might and must. In this module we focus on will and would,
and shall and should.
a. Will
Will is used to show desire, preference, choice or consent:
I will accept your offer.
Will you please be quiet?
b. Would
Would – used to show preference. Would also be used to express willingness, but
more polite (polite). In addition to expressing willingness, would also be used to
discuss possibilities or make predictions.
I would rather go to the cinema today. (I prefer going to the cinema today.)
c. Shall
Shall – to make a suggestion is used to express simple future as will but is only used
on first person I and we. Shall [US English] is rarely used other than for polythe
questions for first person. This verb capital can also be used to declare obligations in
formal situations which can be legal documents or at meetings.
Shall we dance?
Shall I go now?
d. Should
Should is often used to give an opinion, to make a suggestion, express a preference
or an idea.
You should see the doctor.
