Upgraded Input Shaft Seal - TT

This service letter is issued to inform customers that a new improved Input Shaft Seal is available for retrofit for the TT1100-
3300 tunnel thrusters.

Description
The upgrade is intended to further increase the in service performance and reliability of our TT thrusters through a more
robust and wear resistance design. The Input Shaft Seal is regarded as a critical functional sub-system, and this
reliability upgrade is recommended to all sailing vessels with the TT tunnel thrusters. The new design consists of an
Input Shaft Seal Housing, as indicated by legend 2, Figure 1, which enables the introduction of a second seal ring, as
indicated by legend 3. To further increase the wear resistance of the seal rings, an oil tank is included to ensure
continuous lubrication between the seal rings as shown by legend 4 .

This upgrade is available as a retrofit solution and may be installed without the need of docking the vessel. Customers
may either re-machine their existing bearing cover, legend 1, or purchase a finish-machined together with the rest of the
upgrade.
