GENERAL RULES

1. VENUE & DATE

The Legal Spectra 2020 will be held from 5th to 8th March, 2020 at SOA National Institute
of Law (SNIL), Campus-II, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed to be University), K-8,
Kalinga Nagar, Ghatikia, Bhubaneswar-751003 (Odisha) India. The venue is about 8 km
from Biju Patnaik International Airport and 12 km from Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

2. ELIGIBILITY & COMPOSITION OF TEAMS

2.1. All Law Schools/ Faculty of Law/ other Institutions recognized by the Bar Council
of India, offering LL.B degree are eligible to participate in the Competition. Each of the
said organization is allowed to send one Team only. However, in case a Law School/
Faculty of Law/ other Institutions offering both 3 years and 5 years undergraduate LLB
degrees, two Teams, one from 3 years LL.B. course and one from 5 years LL.B. course,
may participate.

2.2. A Team must be composed of a minimum of 3 members and maximum of 10

members. Any individual participant from a Team is allowed to participate in
maximum 5 Competitions, subject to the schedule of conduct of Competitions.
However, the Organizing Committee shall reserve the right to cancel/ alter the
schedule of Competitions in case of exigencies. Any such changes if made shall be
notified to each participating Team.

2.3. The Team must be composed of bona fide students of the Institution, they are
representing. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to verify the identity of the
participants at any time during or after the competitions/event.

2.4. Documents to be verified by the Organizing Committee are:

• Authorization Letter from the head of the Institution/ University
• Hard Copy of Registration Form
• College Identity Card
• Aadhar Card
2.5. The Teams are free to participate in any or all of the competitions of Legal Spectra
2020, subject to compulsory participation in any two of the following mentioned
competitions:

• MOOT COURT COMPETITION

• TRIAL ADVOCACY COMPETITION
• LEGAL DRAFTING COMPETITION
• PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE COMPETITION

3. GENERAL RULES& REGULATIONS

3.1. The Teams are permitted to participate in the competition on first come - first serve
basis. Detailed Rules and regulations for each competition will be notified in the official
website (www.legalspectra.co.in/www.soa.ac.in). Compliance to the Rules is
mandatory, noncompliance of which may result in disqualification of the whole Team
for a particular competition.

3.2. All participants are expected to maintain discipline during the entire event of Legal
Spectra 2020 and are expected to conduct themselves in the manner befitting the
students of the host institute. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to take
appropriate action for any unethical, unprofessional and immoral conduct which may
also lead to disqualification of the participating Team.

3.3. Awards, prizes and certificates shall be distributed at the Valedictory Function on
8th March, 2020 and under no circumstances the same shall be given or sent to any
person through any other medium. All the participating Teams should ensure their
presence at Valedictory Function.

4. REGISTRATION

4.1. All the participating Teams of Legal Spectra 2020 should register for the
competitions on or before 27th February, 2020 by 11:59 PM. The Registration Fees shall
be of INR 800/-per participant of each participating Teams.

4.2. The Registration Fee can be paid through Online Mode by transferring the required
amount in the account details provided or in the Offline Mode through Cash or
Demand Draft.

Note: In any case if the Registered Team withdraws for whatsoever reason may be,
Refund of Money will not be initiated by the Organizing Committee.

In case of Online Payment, the acknowledgement receipt shall be sent to the

snilevent@soa.ac.in, Organizing Committee for further verification and confirmation.

And in case of Offline Payment (via Demand Draft), the Registration fee is required to
be paid which should be drawn in favour of (SIKSHA ‘O’ ANUSANDHAN
UNIVERSITY) payable at Bhubaneswar.

4.3. The Teams are required to verify their registration via email/phone before their
departure for the venue, even though they got the receipt of earlier confirmation of
registration.

4.4. A ‘Unique Identification Code (UIC)’/Team Code will be provided to each Team
via email once the registration is completed as per the procedure. The participating
Teams shall hereinafter are prohibited to disclose their own identity or their Institute’s
identity and they must in all cases be referred by the UIC. Any violation in this regard
may amount to disqualification of the entire Team and in such circumstances the
decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final & binding. Teams registering
Online must ensure that they have received their UIC before their arrival at the venue.
Teams are also requested to contact the Organizing Committee for non-receipt of UIC
within 48 hours of the facilitation of registration process.

4.5. OFFLINE REGISTRATION

4.5.1. A Team may register through offline mode by sending the scanned copy of the
duly filed registration form clearly mentioning the names of the Competitions, names of
the participants corresponding to the event, Authorisation letter from the Head of the
Institution along with the Acknowledgement receipt of Online Payment of Registration
fees or with the scanned copy of Demand Draft of Registration fees and the travel plan
via e-mail to snilevent@soa.ac.in with the subject regarding [Registration for the Legal
Spectra 2020-‘College Name’], for example – [Registration for the Legal Spectra 2020 -
‘SOA National Institute of Law’], on or before 27th February, 2020.

4.5.2. The hard copies of the above mentioned documents must be deposited on the
arrival of the respective Teams on the 04th March, 2020.

4.6 ONLINE REGISTRATION

4.6.1 A Team may also register Online by filling the online registration form, available
at www.legalspectra.co.in on or before 27th February, 2020 by 11:59 PM.

4.6.2 Soft Copies of passport size photograph of each participant, Authorisation Letter
from the Head of the Institution (required only in the case of online registration),
Acknowledgement receipt of Online Payment of Registration fees, and Travel Plan must
be uploaded at the time of ONLINE registration, originals of which must be deposited
on arrival at the venue on 04th March, 2020, failing which may lead to disqualification.

4.7 REPORTING

4.7.1 All the registered Team shall report positively on 04th March, 2020 from 02:00 PM
onwards at the registration venue.

4.7.2 All the participants shall carry their college/university identity card at the time of
registration.

4.7.3 The Orientation for the participants of Legal Spectra 2020, draw of lots for the
preliminary round of Moot Court Competition, along with exchange of memorial for
Moot Court Competition will be held on 04th March, 2020.

5. FOOD & ACCOMODATION

5.1. The Host Institute will provide Food from 05th March, 2020 to 08th March, 2020 and
Accommodation from 04th March, 2020 to 08th March, 2020 shall be provided only to
the outstation Teams.
5.2. The participants are required to send their travel plan latest by 27th February, 2020.

6. CLARIFICATIONS

6.1. Clarifications regarding the general Rules and regulations may be sought from the
Organizing Committee via e-mail (snilevent@soa.ac.in) or telecommunication on or
before 27th February, 2020.

6.2. In case of any doubts or ambiguities with respect to the Rules of any competition (if
any), the same will be clarified in the form of corrigenda, which will be sent to all Teams
via e-mails and via notifications in the official website (www.legalspectra.co.in/
www.soa.ac.in/snil). The decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final and
binding on any matter including circumstances not envisaged in the regulations of the
competition.
