Challanges of School Caunsellor in Work Place

Counseling is not an advice though it is a lot of advice. Counseling is a systematic

helping process based on psychological principles. Counseling is also one of the
branches of psychology. Meetings between counselors and clients are voluntary and
ongoing throughout life based on Counseling Ethics. Even the counselor will not give
a direct answer to the client and the client will make the best decision with the help of
the counselor.

Counseling are one of the essentials to help people to solve life-related problems.
Counseling become more important as the country experiences rapid change. The
millenia world is filled with all kinds of challenges that one must face. Various factors
affect individuals, communities and countries whether positive or negative. Therefore,
to address these effects guidance and counseling are introduced. In this era,
counsellors may face difficulties in dealing with professional issues in their
professional practice, for example countertransference and conflict value. As a
counsellor, they should provide mental strength to face all the challenges.In this report,
the issues or challenges in counselling will be discussed.

Many teacher do not understand the important role of counseling in schools, for all
of them teachers are able to provide student counseling. The subject teachers think
that counseling Teachers only give advice and they are also capable of doing so.The
main challenge of the counselor in the school is that the teacher does not refer the
student to the problem with the counselor because he or she has taken care of the
student himself and thinks the student is calm and does not need to be referred to
counselor anymore. Counselors who do not have the cooperation of the subject
teachers do not allow students to meet with the counselor at thier leture time. They do
not understand the emotions of students who are uneasy and unable to concentrate
on the lessons and the subject teachers expect students to excel in their subjects.
Teachers think that students can put aside their problems and focus on their lessons
while students are not yet mature enough to handle their problems.
 To address the issue, counseling teachers should explain the scope of their work
and create awareness campaigns on the importance of counseling teachers in
schools. In addition, counseling teachers can also cooperate with their shcool
principal to facilitate their work. Counselors need to enhance their professionalism in
the field of therapy or techniques & counseling skills in order to make counseling
sessions more effective. Futhermore, counsellor need to make sense to the
community of the importance of being considerate to the individual and contributing to
the school counseling program. Counselors need to interpret to the community in
particular the importance of a thoughtful attitude to their own so that they can
contribute to the counseling program conducted in the school. contribution to school
counseling. Counselor also can , Organize mentoring and counseling programs such
as motivation and learning skills to provide students and teachers with the true
functioning of the guidance and counseling unit.

Last but not least, counselling can go further in help the employees to have better
control over their lives, take their decisions wisely and better charge of their
responsibilities, reduce the level of stress and anxiety. Counselling of employees can
have desirable consequences for the organisation. It helps the organisation when the
employees know that the organization cares for them, and build a sense of
commitment with it. It can prove to be of significant help to modify the behaviour of the
employees and more so to re-enforce the desired behaviour and improve and
increase the employee productivity. As a professional counsellor they should be
prepared physically and emotionally with an enough practical and a knowledge to face
the challenges . Therefore, we should prepare that we can resolve all problems wisely
and avoid from mental illness.

Lastly, In our country counseling services are essential in helping to solve the
problems faced by the community especially in helping teachers in solving issues
such as student issues and so on. address all of these issues. I hope that counsellor
can be telorate with others teachers to solve students problems.
