The ETAP Real-Time Server is the center of communication between the Real-Time system and monitoring stations. Real-Time data from the
system is communicated to the Sys Monitor presentation in ETAP Real-Time, by starting the PSMS Server. Refer to the OSPAS-PDD
Administrative Administrator Guide for details on starting the ETAP Real-Time Server.

Once the ETAP Real-Time Server is active and the user’s system is configured to run ETAP Real-Time, the user may go to the Sys Monitor
presentation and click on the “Real-Time Systems” icon from the System Toolbar to bring up the Real-Time Systems Mode Toolbar.

After the Real-Time Systems Mode Toolbar is activated, click on the “Monitoring Mode” icon to activate the Online Monitoring Mode. The
“Monitoring Mode” icon is one of the options available on the PSMS Toolbar. When the system is in the Online Monitoring Mode, the
background color of the “Online Monitoring” icon is changed from gray to white.

The Edit Mode or any other mode (for example, Load Flow, Short-Circuit etc.) is activated in order to bring the system off-line or leave the Online
Monitoring Mode. When the system is in the Offline Mode the background color of the “Online Monitoring” icon is changed from white to gray.
