Introduction
OZSoft SAPRouter Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) is an add-on to SAP
Management Pack that enables the monitoring of SAPRouter servers running on Microsoft Windows OS.

SAP Network Interface Router (often referred to as SAPRouter) is an SAP program that acts as an intermediate station (proxy)
in a network connection between SAP Systems, or between SAP Systems and external networks. SAPRouter controls the access
to your network (application level gateway), and, as such, is a useful enhancement to an existing firewall system (port filter).

The Base SAP Management Pack is required to be installed to use this Add-On Management pack.

The Management Pack relies on SCOM Agents for Microsoft Service Discovery hence an agent needs to be installed on the
machine(s) hosting the SAProuter.

SAPRouter Management Pack is delivered and imported into SCOM as a regular Management Pack.

Installation requirements

Microsoft System Center Operations Manager

 Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 SP1 or R2

SAP Router
 SAPRouter Kernel Release 720 or later.
 Domain or Local User Account (not SYSTEM) with credentials created for SAPRouter PSE
To create the credentials run the following command on the local machine:
sapgenpse seclogin [–p <PSE file name>] –x<PSE Pin> [<Windows Domain>\]<user
ID>

Installing Management Pack

Importing Management Pack into Operations manager

After installing SAP Management Pack under the installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\OZSoft Consulting
Corporation\SAP Management Pack) find scom sub-folder. In this folder you will find ozsoft.router.mp file.

Import this file into SCOM using Operations Console.

Configuring Management Pack

If the SAPRouter is installed using default installation parameters there is no configuration required. The installed SAP Routers
will be discovered automatically on all Windows computers provided the computers have SCOM Monitoring Agent installed.

However in the cases when the SAPRouter is installed with non-standard parameters the SAPRouter Management Pack
discoveries can be overridden to accommodate this.

There are three Discoveries included with the Management Pack:

Non-standard SAPRouter windows service name

The default name of the SAPRouter service the Management Pack discovery is targeting is “SAPRouter”.

Override service SAPRouter Service Discovery for specific Windows Computer objects or a Group to change the name of the
service:

Non-standard SAP Cryptographic Library installation folder

The default location of SAP cryptographic folder is <SAPRouter installation folder>\COMMONCRYPTOLIB which usually
translates into c:\user\sapsaprouter\ COMMONCRYPTOLIB. The Management Pack assumes this location and deducts the
<SAPRouter installation folder> from the SAPRouter service Executable path.

In the cases when the SAP cryptographic library has been installed to a different location you need to override SAPRouter
Details Discovery for a specific SAPRouter Service objects with the actual SAP cryptographic library location:

When the SAPRouter Management Pack is installed a new SAP Routers view is added under SAP folder:

There is a single object discovered for each instance of the SAPRouter service. The class SAP Router extends Microsoft’s
Microsoft.SystemCenter.WindowsService class and lets the SAP Router object to inherit all properties of generic Windows
Service.

SAPRouter has additional discoveries that populate additional object properties as see in the screen-shot above.

Monitoring
The Management Pack includes a number of Performance and Availability monitors.
