621 Outlook is not syncing and giving a "Need
votes password" message Post a new idea…
All ideas
Vote I have several users that over the last 1-2 months
My feedback
increasingly have experienced that their Outlook wont sync.
All of them then experience as message in the bottom of the Uncertain topic 1636
Outlook screen that says "Need password", but if you click it, Users, Photos, Contacts 1335
you just get a quick blink of a white screen, and then it
disappears.

Search
While the issue is present for the users, it is not possible for
them to create a new Outlook profile, as it wouldn't connect
to the mailbox. I had luck with just rebooting my own Give feedback
computer, that fixed the issue for me, but only until the next Delve 1,438
day. Other users had bigger problems getting it to work.

The issue apparently seems to be an implementation on
"Web Account Manager" (WAM) in Office/Windows. The Microsoft Connections
email marketing 63
solution is to set below registry key to 1 in below path.
Microsoft Invoicing 215

Path: Microsoft Listings online

There is a bit more information on the error on below links. Office 365 Admin Mobile

As said, the issue is resolved with above registry fix, but it
obviously isn't optimal, and preferably it would be fixed by a Office 365 Business Center
336
software patch, either for Windows or Office.

"Start > Setting > Accounts > Access work or school >
Disconnect issue account" is an OK solution to give to a non-
technical user quick access to their email if you don't have time
to sort it yourself, but it's only a temporary solution and will come
back again after a few days.

I also didn't find that DisableADALatopWAMOverride worked

reliably.

For me, the following registry key has worked every time:

Path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Comm
on\Identity
Key: EnableADAL (DWORD)
Value: 0

THANK YOU to those that posted this -- worked like a charm!

Solution: Remove workplace account from (Setting > Accounts >

Access work or school > Disconnect).

Somtimes you better reboot the computer first and then try to
delete the workplace account.
I had a case were he would not delete the workplace account.
After a reboot, it worked like a charm.

I have about 20 users experiencing this issue, please sort it out

Solution: Remove workplace account from (Setting > Accounts >

Access work or school > Disconnect).

This is a Windows setting not office. So go to "Start > Setting >

Accounts > Access work or school > Disconnect issue account"

We have the same issue with Outlook here. The workaround we

found is to do a full computer shutdown - shutting down the
computer while holding the Shift key. This helped resolve most
such cases in the office.

Below worked for me

SOLUTION: Settings>Accounts>remove account from "access
work or school" worked!

After remove account, just re-initiate outlook and it will prompt for
credentials and then it will connect successfully, no loss of emails
