 Responsible for the management and administration of the program, including


planning, evaluation, budgeting, selection of faculty and staff, maintenance of
accreditation, and commitment to strategies for professional development.

 Responsibility for the overall education of occupational therapy assistant students


during the academic portion of their education; in in preparation for successful
participation in fieldwork, successfully passing NBCOT certification exam, and future
practice as effective and safe practitioners.

 Supervision and mentorship of all OTA full-time and adjunct faculty (including the
OTA Academic Fieldwork Coordinator).

 Full-time faculty position with the responsibility of educating occupational therapy


assistant students to successfully complete the academic portion of their education,
successfully and effectively participate in fieldwork placements, and ultimately pass
the national certification exam and practice as effective and safe practitioners.
 Maintain current and secure additional fieldwork rotation sites that support the
mission of University of Southern Indiana and the mission of the College of Nursing
and Health Professions.
 Coordinate and provide on-going support for students and clinical fieldwork
educators during all occupational therapy assistant students’ Level I and Level II
fieldwork placements.

with approximately 45 students per section
 Developed new class activities and utilized community and campus experiences to
enhance and utilize active learning in the classroom

learning of subject matter

Student Advising and Mentoring Activities:


I have been the primary Advisor for all OTA students (pre, incoming & current) since July
2017. Due to this, I had approximately 50 advisees in 2017, 85 advisees in 2018, & 93
advisees (to date) in 2019. Now that I have assumed the OTA Interim Program Chair
position & an additional full-time faculty member has been hired to assume my previous
role of OTA Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, we will be splitting the advisee load; with
my position being responsible for advising the pre, incoming & first semester OTA
students, and the OTA AFWC faculty member being responsible for advising the OTA
students during their 2nd & 3rd semesters in the USI OTA program (in regard to their Level
IA & Level IB Fieldwork Practicums and Level IIA & Level IIB Fieldwork Internships).
