Lab: Course Introduction


Setup
1. Open the LabDialog window.
Find the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen.
Click the LabDialog tab in the Windows task bar to display the LabDialog window.

2. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.


When you click Done, the button changes to Waiting.

Lab: Log on to DNG Web Client


Log on to DNG web client
1. Start Firefox.
Find and double click the Firefox icon on your virtual machine desktop.
2. Start Rational DOORS Next Generation.
Click the DNG Web Client bookmark button inside Firefox.

3. Log on.
User: bob
Password: bob
4. Verify that you see the All Projects page in the browser.

Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.
If the LabDialog window is hidden behind another window, bring the LabDialog
window to the top by clicking LabDialog in your taskbar.

Then, click the Done? button. Once clicked, it will say Waiting.

If you are finished and waiting for the other students in class, feel free to run
through the steps in the Optional section (for labs that contain Optional sections).
Otherwise, wait for the instructor to start the next module.

After completing this lab, you’ll be able to:
Open a project page.
Configure the layout of a project page.
Setup
1. Log on to the DNG web client if not already open.
User: bob Password: bob
Project artifacts page
1. Open the JKE Banking Requirements project artifacts page.
From the All Projects page, select Show Artifacts in the JKE Banking
(Requirements Management) project section.
Note: There are multiple projects listed, so be sure to select the correct link.
2. Examine the page layout.
The Filter Bar appears on the left side of the Artifacts view, and the Information
Sidebar appears on the right.
Configure layout
1. Collapse the Information Sidebar.
Hover your mouse over the bar separating the
Artifacts view from the Information Sidebar.
The bar will turn yellow.
Click the right-facing arrow in the
Separation Bar.
The Information Sidebar should be hidden.
2. Expand the Information Sidebar.
Hover your mouse over the bar to the right
of the Artifacts view.
Click on the bar to expand.
3. Resize the Information Sidebar.
Hover your mouse over the bar separating
the Artifacts view from the Information
Sidebar.
Click anywhere on the bar, except the
arrows, and move the bar.
Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – Collapse both bars


1. Collapse both the Information Sidebar and the Filter Bar.
Hover your mouse over the bar separating the Artifacts view from the Information
Sidebar. The bar will turn yellow.
Click the double right-facing arrow in the Separation Bar.
Both the Information Sidebar and the Filter Bar should be hidden.
2. Expand the Information Sidebar and the Filter Bar.
Hover your mouse over the bar to the right of the Artifacts view.
Click on the bar to expand the Information Sidebar.
Hover your mouse over the bar to the left of the Artifacts view.
Click on the bar to expand the Filter Bar.

Lab: Filters and Views


After completing this lab, you’ll be able to:
Create filters and save a filter as a view.
Setup
1. Verify user and project.

Filter on a folder
1. Use a filter to show the artifacts contained in the Features folder in JKE Business Recovery
Matters.
In the Filter Bar, expand the Filter by Folder section.
Expand JKE Banking (Requirements Management) ´ JKE Business Recovery
Matters Project
Click on the Features folder.
The artifacts contained in the Features folder display in the Artifacts View.
2. Use a filter to show the artifacts contained in the Glossary folder.
Click on the Glossary folder.
Clear filter
1. Clear the filter that is selecting artifacts in a specific folder.
Click the Clear Filters button next to the Filter by Folder section heading.
Hint: If you hover your mouse over a button, a pop-up will indicate the purpose of
the button.
Filter on an attribute
1. Use a filter to show the artifacts with the Artifact Type attribute set to Feature.
In the Filter Bar, expand the Filter by Attribute section.
Click on Artifact type.
Select the checkbox next to Feature in the Artifact Types is dialog box.
Click Apply.
Note: All Feature artifacts are listed, regardless of the folder in which they exist.
2. Clear the Attribute filter.
Click the Clear Filters button next to the Filter by Attribute section heading.
3. Use a filter to show the artifacts with a name that contains the word donors.
In the Filter by Attribute section, click on Name.
Type donors in the Name contains dialog box.
Click Apply.
4. Clear the Attribute filter.

Filter on a tag
1. Clear any existing filters.
Click the Clear Filter button next to Views.
2. Use a filter to show the artifacts with the Core Functionality tag.
In the Filter Bar, expand the Filter by Tag section.
Click on the Core Functionality tag.
Complex filter
1. Clear any existing filters.
2. Use filters to show the artifacts with High Priority in the Business Goals folder.
In the Filter Bar, expand the Filter by Folder section.
Expand JKE Banking (Requirements Management) ´ JKE Business Recovery
Matters Project
Click on the Business Goals folder.
Expand the Filter by Attribute section.
Click More attributes
Select attribute: Priority
Select value: High
Click Apply.
Save filter as view
1. Save the filter you just created as a view.
In the Filter Bar, expand Views.
Click the Save View button.
In the New View dialog box, type the View Name: High Priority Goals
Click OK.
Cleanup
1. Clear any existing filters.
2. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – Show link


1. In the Filter Bar, expand Views.
2. Show the hyperlink for the All Terms view.
Hover over the All Terms view.
Click the pencil button when it appears, and select Show Permalink…
Note: This link can be copied from the Show Permalink dialog box and sent to others
for direct access to this view (as long as the user has permission).
3. Click OK to dismiss the Show Permalink dialog box.

Open a module
1. View the artifacts in the JKE Business Recovery Matters Project’s Modules folder.
Expand the Filter by Folder section ´ JKE Banking (Requirements Management)
´ JKE Business Recovery Matters Project ´ Modules
2. Open JKE Features Module.
Click on the JKE Features Module link in the Artifacts view.
(Do NOT click the subfolder named JKE Features Module artifacts.)

3. You can tell that you are open to the module by looking at the name of the artifact
(JKE Features Module) and the breadcrumb (showing the Modules parent folder).

4. Return to the Modules folder using either the browser Back button or the breadcrumb.
Cleanup
1. Clear any existing filters.
2. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – Recently-viewed artifacts


1. Show a list of recently-viewed artifacts.
Click the Artifacts menu toward the top of the window.
Recently-viewed artifacts are visible from the right column of the dropdown menu.

Optional – View artifacts side-by-side


1. Open the project page (if not already open).
Hint: You can use the Artifacts menu, and select Browse Artifacts.
2. Show the current list of artifacts in the Features folder.
Use Filter by Folder to view the artifacts in the JKE Banking (Requirements
Management) ´ JKE Business Recovery Matters Project ´ Features folder.
3. View two of the artifacts side-by-side.
Select the checkbox in front of the first two artifacts in the list.
Click the Pencil button, and select Open Artifacts ´ Open 2 Artifacts Side-
by-Side.
4. After viewing the two artifacts, close the two windows.

Optional – Help pages


1. Open the IBM Rational Help page in a new tab.
Click the Help Contents menu, and select Help Contents.
A new tab appears in your browser window showing the help pages.

2. Open the feature Customers can nominate an organization for the program.
Click the link for the requirement in the Features folder.
3. Find the following pieces of the requirement:
ID and name, description, tags, breadcrumb, attributes, Comments, Links, and

1. View the links from this requirement to other artifacts.
Click the Links section to expand (if not already expanded).
Use the scroll bar if necessary to see all links for this requirement to other artifacts.
2. Open one of the linked artifacts.
In the Links section, click the term Back Office System.
3. Return to the feature Customers can nominate an organization for the program.
Use the browser Back button to return to the previous page.
View module
1. Open JKE Features Module.
Return to the JKE Business Recovery Matters Project folder by using the
breadcrumb link.
Click the Modules folder.
Click the JKE Features Module link. (REMEMBER: Click the link to open the
module in the Artifacts view on the right side of the screen Do not click the JKE
Features Module artifacts subfolder.)
2. Open one of the features listed in the module.
Click the ID (number) link in front of the Make a one-time payment feature.
Note: The artifact title should indicate the Dividend processing payment is a
one time transaction requirement is open with the content Make a one-time
payment.
3. Return to the module JKE Features Module.
Use the browser Back button to return to the previous page.
4. Use a view to show more attribute columns.
In the module’s Filter Bar, expand the Views section.
Click the Show Artifact Type and Business Priority view.
5. Use a view to limit visible artifacts in the module.
Click the Business Priority = Must view.
6. Clear the selected filter.
Click the Eraser button, next to the Views section.

Setup

1. Use a filter to show artifacts in the Features folder.
In the Filter Bar, expand Filter by Folder ´ JKE Banking (Requirements
Management) ´ JKE Business Recovery Matters
Click on the Features folder.
2. Open the Organization must identify how much money is desired requirement.
3. View the comment that is directed to you.
Expand the Comments section in the Information Sidebar.
Note the comment: Incorrect Difficulty?
Reply to comment
1. Reply to the comment.
Click on the comment, and click the Reply to Comment button.
2. Complete the Reply to Comment dialog box.
Do not change the Subject.
Enter the Comment: Difficulty is correct.
Click OK.
Resolve comment
1. Resolve the comment.
Hover over the original comment, and click the Resolve Comment button.
2. Resolve the discussion thread.
Hover over the original comment, and click the Resolve Discussion Thread
button.

Add new comment to a requirement


1. Add a new comment for the Organization must identify how much money is desired
requirement.
In the Comments section in the Information Sidebar, click the dropdown arrow next
to the Comments button , and select Create comment for Artifact.
2. Complete the Create comment for Artifact dialog box.
Subject: Time Estimate
Comment: How long do you think this will take to implement?
Click the Browse button next to the Directed to field.
In the Select Users dialog box, type marco in the filter.
Click on Marco in Matching users.
Click Add & Close.
In the Directed to field, remove the Administrator user by hovering over
Administrator and clicking the red X button.
Click OK.
Filter comments
1. In the Comments section of the Information Sidebar, click the Filter Comments button.
2. Check the Hide resolved comments box, and then click on the Filter Comments button.
You may need to collapse the Overview section of the Information Sidebar to see the
Hide resolved comments box.
Note that after you click the Hide resolved comments box, you no longer see the
resolved comment.
Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Set attribute values
1. Expand Filter by Folder ´ JKE Banking (Requirements Management) ´ JKE Banking
Business Recovery Matters Project
2. Click on the Features folder.
3. Open the Dividend allocation by percentage requirement.
4. Change the value of the Difficulty attribute for the requirement.
Click Edit.
In the Information Sidebar, find the Overview section.
Click the dropdown arrow to the right of the Difficulty attribute.
Select High from the dropdown menu for the Difficulty attribute.
5. Change the value of the Origin attribute to Competitor.
6. Click Done to save and exit edit mode for the requirement.
Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – Edit multiple artifact attribute values


1. Expand Filter by Folder ´ JKE Banking (Requirements Management) ´ JKE Business
Recovery Matters Project
2. Click on the Features folder.
3. Change the Difficulty attribute value for two artifacts in the same operation.
Click the checkbox in front of the Dividend allocation by percentage
requirement and the Organization must identify how much money is desired
requirement.
Click the pencil button, and select Edit the attributes for 2 Artifacts.
Click the checkbox in front of Difficulty, and select Medium from the dropdown.
Click Save.
4. Open the requirements to verify the attribute value was set.
You may need to refresh the artifact to see the change in the attribute value.

Lab: History
After completing this lab, you’ll be able to:
View the history of an artifact.
View a baseline (optional).
Setup
1. Verify user and project.

History view
1. Open the history for the Frequency of dividend transfer feature.
Expand Filter by Folder ´ JKE Banking (Requirements Management) ´ JKE
Business Recovery Matters ´ Features
Click the Frequency of dividend transfer feature.
Click the Open History button.
2. View an earlier version of the artifact.
Earlier versions are shown in the History Bar under the artifact name, split up by
the time the version was created (Today, Yesterday, Past Week, Past Month,
Earlier).

Click on an earlier version to show the contents of that previous version.

Show audit history


1. View the change history for the artifact.
Click the Audit History tab.
Click the change headers to expand and display the details of each change.
2. Return to the current version.
Click the Open Current Version button.
Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – View baseline


1. Open the SNAP1 baseline.
Open the JKE Banking Requirements project page.
Expand the Baselines section of the Information Sidebar.
Click on the SNAP1 baseline.
The Artifact view now shows the version of all artifacts at the time the SNAP1
baseline was taken.
2. Return to the current project.
Click the Open Current Project button.

Lab: Dashboards
After completing this lab, you’ll be able to:
View the project dashboard.
View and configure the personal dashboard.
View and configure the mini dashboard.
Setup
1. Verify user and project.
User: bob Project: JKE Banking Page: Dashboard
Project dashboard
1. Open the JKE Banking project dashboard, if not already open.
From the All Projects page, click the JKE Banking (Requirements
Management) link.
Or, if the JKE Banking project page is already open, click the Project Dashboard
menu option.
2. View the General tab of the dashboard.
The default widgets on your dashboard include Requirements Tracing, Reviews,
Recent Changes, My Requirements Projects, and Comments.
3. View the Development tab of the dashboard.
Click the Development tab, and notice the default widgets.
4. Return to the General tab of your dashboard.
Personal dashboard
1. Open your personal dashboard.
Click the Home button in the upper-left corner.
2. Add the Project Members widget to your personal dashboard.
Click the Add Widget button in the upper-right corner.
Select Catalog: Requirements Management
Select Category: Requirements
Click the Add Widget button under Project Members.
Click the Close (x) button in the upper-right corner of the add widget console.
3. Configure the widget.
In the Project Members widget on your dashboard, click the settings link.
Project: JKE Banking (Requirements Management)
Click OK.
4. Save your dashboard.
Click Save.

Mini dashboard
1. Open the mini dashboard.
Click the Mini Dashboard button in the upper left corner.
2. Add the Comments widget to your mini dashboard.
Click the Add Widget button in the mini dashboard.
Select Catalog: Requirements Management
Select Category: Requirements
Click the Add Widget button under Comments.
Click Close.
3. Close the mini dashboard.
Click in an empty area somewhere outside the mini dashboard.
Return to project page
1. Return to the JKE Banking project page.
In the My Requirements Projects widget, click the Create or show artifacts
link next to JKE Banking (Requirements Management).
Cleanup
1. Click Done to tell the instructor you’ve completed the lab.

Optional – Share your dashboard with your team


1. Return to your personal dashboard.
2. Click the Sharing Options button in
the upper-right corner of the dashboard.
Click OK to share your dashboard.
3. Inspect the page where your dashboard is published.
Click the Home menu.
Select All Personal Dashboards.
Bob’s Requirements Dashboard is listed as a shared dashboard for all to view.
4. Return to the JKE Banking project page.
Optional – Configure widget settings
1. Return to your personal dashboard.
2. Change the trim color of the My Requirements Projects widget.
Click the My Requirements Projects widget menu, and select Appearance.
Change the Trim to Orange.
Click OK.
3. Return to the JKE Banking project page.

Lab: Create Artifacts


After completing this lab, you’ll be able to:
Create and edit an artifact.
Setup
1. Verify user and project.
User: bob Project: JKE Banking Page: Project Artifacts
Create a requirement
1. Create the Account Overview requirement.
In the Filter Bar on the left, expand Filter by Folder ´ JKE Banking (Requirements
Management) ´ MyBank
Click on the Features folder within the MyBank folder.
At the top of the Filter Bar, click the Create New… button dropdown arrow, and
select Feature.
2. Complete the Create Artifact dialog box:
Initial Content: Show an overview of the customer’s account
Name: Account Overview
The Artifact Type, Artifact Format, and Folder fields are pre-filled with the correct
values, because you selected Create Feature and started the create process from the
Features folder.
Click OK.
One-click create
1. Turn on one-click create.
At the top of the Filter Bar, click the
Create New… button dropdown arrow,
and select the checkbox in front of
Use One-click Create.

2. Create a requirement using one-click create:


Click the Create New… button dropdown arrow, and select Feature.
The new feature requirement displays and can be edited in the Artifact view.
Enter the Name: Check Balance
Verify the requirement is saved by clicking on the refresh icon.
3. Turn off one-click create.
At the top of the Filter Bar, click the Create New… button dropdown arrow, and
de-select the checkbox in front of Use One-click Create.

Edit a requirement
1. Open the Check Balance feature requirement.
In the Artifacts view, click the Check Balance link.
2. Click Edit.
3. Edit the requirement short description.
In the Overview section of the Information Sidebar, enter the Description:
Check the account balance
4. Edit the requirement content.
Type the following into the large white space below the requirement name:
The system shall allow the account holder to view the
balance of all of the account holder’s accounts.
5. Save the requirement.
Click Save.
6. Exit the edit mode for the requirement.
Click Done.
View contents of folder
1. Show the current list of requirements in the Features folder.
Click Features in the breadcrumb. The breadcrumb appears above the
requirement name.
The list of artifacts in the Features folder displays, including the requirements you
just created.
Cleanup

dashboard to view your work assignments.

Open and inspect a work item assigned to you

Inspect several of the work item tabs
1. Display the work item FDS Workflow History tab.
The time stamps indicate that the work item progressed to In IT Functional Review,
but is not Awaiting Business Review.
The time stamps indicate that the IT Functional Review was either Approved
Conditionally or Rejected, which is why the work item state is back In Progress.
2. Display the work item Reviews tab, and scroll down to the Review History section.
The last entry of the Review History section shows the result of the latest review completed.
Note that the IT Functional Review was Approved, with a comment indicating that
you must make changes to the module based on reviewer comments.
3. Display the work item Links tab, and scroll down to the Links section.
There are Related Artifacts links to the original enterprise module and to the local copy of
the module. The local copy has reviewer comments waiting for your attention.
View feedback comments, but do not make changes
1. Find reviewer feedback in the comments that are directed to you.
Open the Comments widget on the project dashboard
General tab or on the mini dashboard.
Select the Recent Comments for Me button to display comments directed to you.
2. Open the artifact that contains the comment directed to you.
Right click the link in the Comment widget, and open the artifact in a new tab.
3. View the comment, but do not incorporate it into the artifact.

to one week from today’s date.
Save the work item.

1. Open to the DNG artifacts page.
Artifacts ´ Browse Artifacts
2. Create a new FDS module using a template.
Click the Create New… button dropdown arrow, and select FDS.
Name: Test Module for Training
Artifact type: FDS
Template: FDS Template – SAP Interface Template
Folder: BtB Training ´ SOR ´ LER Project Workspace ´ 02-FDS
Click OK.
Create traceability links for new module
1. Navigate to folder: BtB Training ´ SOR ´ LER Project Workspace ´ 02-FDS
2. Open the new module: Test Module for Training
3. Expand the Module Links section of the Information Sidebar.
4. Create a FDS to FRS link to GLB-GT-FRS-SOR-MANPODLSCH-001(DS-VAL-70280).docx
Click the Add Link to Artifact button, and select FDS to FRS.

Incorporate feedback from comments


This portion of the lab will be working with a different local module that was created prior to
class. This new local module has been reviewed, and you will now continue the process after the
review using this new module.
1. Find review feedback in the comments directed to you.
Open the Comments widget on the General tab of the project dashboard or on the
mini dashboard.
Select the Recent Comments for Me button to display only comments directed to
you.
2. Open the artifact link for a comment directed to you.
Click the link in the Comment widget for the artifact: The system must update
the Contract in the Source List when the Contract vendor is not blocked
3. Review the comment and incorporate feedback.
Click the Selected Artifact tab, and expand the Artifact Comments section in
the Information Sidebar.
Click the comment subject to expand the comment content.
Copy the comment content, and paste (replace) the text in the artifact to incorporate
the requested changes.
Click the Resolve Comment button to indicate the feedback was addressed.
Complete work (work item state change)
1. Move work item to next state.
Note: Since the IT Functional Reviewer marked their approval as Approved with the
comment Approved as long as feedback from comments are included, you can move
the work item directly to the next review state, Awaiting Business Review. If the IT
Functional Reviewer had marked their approval as Rejected, then you would have to
perform the Functional Review again.
Return to the tab containing your Deliverable FDS work item.
Use Resume to Awaiting Business Review action to move the work item to the
Awaiting Business Review state.
