Spannect

The Design of this conceptual

residential space was inspired by
clients themselves. Two separate
residential space for two clients.
The two clients are an artist and a
computer engineer. The clients have
very different professional needs but
similar spatial needs to improve and
evolve through their work and lifestyle.
The project explores minds of very
different personalities and implements
the research findings into architecture.

a progressive architectural concept. A

understand the history and the process
of the Cider Production both in real time.

About
Circulation
Neighborhood
Vehicles coming to
towards the area
Brigham Circle is located at
Vehicles going
the intersection of Tretmont away from the area
Street and Huntington Avenue
in the Mission Hill neighborhood
of Boston, Massachusetts. The
commercial center of Mission
Hill, it forms the southern tip of
the Longwood Medical Area.
Site Usage-
The area is named for the Peter Buildings
Bent Brigham Hospital (now a wing C o m m e r c i a l

of the larger Brigham and Women's

R e s i d e n t i a l
Hospital), which stands at one side
of the circle and is approached
through Stoneman Plaza. The
intersection was never a true traffic
circle like other circles in Boston.
Huntington Avenue has had through
lanes since at least the early 20th Sound
century; a small rotary was present
at the junction of Francis Street on
Loud Less
the northwest side. The entrance Loud

to Puddingstone Park is nearby.

Program Concept
As the program requirements goes,
the site should hold Cider production,
consumption, gallery and community
space. I wanted the space to be
transparent so that the users can have
complete idea of the space. The idea
is to put the production space in the
Informative Recreational
center and have other required spaces Space Space
communicate with it. So that when an
user is in gallery space, it can see the
production and the surrounding because
of the transparency and learn about the
cider history in real time. Or when an user Production
is in the consumption area, it can see the Space
production to understand how the cider
its been drinking came into existence.

Design Concept
The Shape of the building follows
the shape of the site, triangle.
Using the slop of the site, the
design experiences a continuous
connection throughout the
floors as the floor spirals up.

The structural support is provided

by the W-frames. The W-frame
is reinforced concrete, about 2
ft thick. Total of 4 W-frames are
enough to hold up spiral floors.

Dragonstone

The program for the space is to host a part of Iron man triathlon for the city. The
design is divided into two parts, interior and exterior. Interiors is basically series
of ramps going around the main plaza forming a biking track and the plaza holds
the audience. The exterior makes the building truly stand out. The outer “shell”
consists of tectonic pattern repeating over and over again to form an organic shape.
