Christmas, 2019

From the Gospel of Luke: “I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today
in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you:
you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” The friars and staff of the
Shrine are so grateful for the holiness and spirit of generosity that each of you bring to this special church on
Arch Street. Your enthusiasm is contagious. May you and your family enjoy this sacred season. Merry
Christmas!

The very first Mass at 100 Arch St. took place at 11:59pm on December 31, 1954. In other words, this year,
on New Year’s Eve, we will mark our 65th year in this building. Do you know anyone who attended that
1954 New Year’s Eve Mass? We would love to hear their recollection of that event. Please write to me at
tconway@stanthonyshrine.org or at 100 Arch St. Boston MA 02110.

Year- End Gifts

As the end of the calendar year approaches, we invite you to consider making a tax-deductible gift to the Shrine. There are
a number of ways to make this gift.

1. Cash/check - may be given in person or via the U.S mail. Please note that the gift must be postmarked by
December 31, to be counted for a 2019 tax deduction.

2. Credit card –You can make an on-line gift with a credit card. Or, you may call the Development Office (857-206-
7243) and give your credit card information over the telephone. Our electronic giving kiosks in the lobby, and at
the information booth are two other options to make a gift with your credit card.

3. IRA Charitable Rollover – If you, or someone you know is 70 ½ or older and has a traditional Individual
Retirement Account (IRA), you can use your required minimum distribution to support the Shrine through a
Charitable Rollover gift. Your total annual IRA Charitable Rollover gift(s) cannot exceed $100,000 in the calendar
year of the gift. Please contact the administrator of your plan and ask that your distribution be a charitable
rollover to the Shrine. This gift must come directly from your plan administrator to the Shrine. Please include your
name and address in the transfer.

4. Gifts of Long-Term Appreciated Securities – This type of gift may offer more tax advantages for you than a gift of
cash. Please consult with your tax advisor.

5. Matching Gifts – A corporate matching gift is a tremendous way to increase your personal gift to the Shrine. We
encourage you to take advantage of your employer’s matching gift program.

Thank you for all you do to help us live-out the Gospel in Boston. Please continue to pray for all those whom we serve with
love and compassion. If you have questions about making a gift, please contact Maryanne Rooney-Hegan at (617) 778-
1645.

Our tax ID # is 04-2119394.
