CHAPTER -I

Study area database and methodology

1. INTRODUCTION
A filed study survey on socio-economic status of village Basukera of
Sakhigopal block is conducted to know about the population size
structure and organization with pattern Such as education, literacy,
activities etc. Source of income occupation and developments.
2. AIM AND OBJECTIVES:

This survey is done to fulfill the following aims and objective:-

i) To collect information regarding the size of the families.


ii) To know about the material study, education background about
occupational structure of member of families.
iii) To make an assessment of the income of the people from various
sources.

SOURCE OF DATA AND METHODOLOGY:

The present study is mainly based on primary data. We have applied the
imperial methods of observation like questionnaire, interview and general
conversation with village head and ward members besides, the FS we have
prepared and collected various data from tahasil, Block Office and the
sketch map of the hamlet. The performance and questionnaire are attached
for reference.

We have prepared 64 members of questionnaire for each and


every house-hold as this hemlet in consist of 80 families. The student are
devided groups faced to each door and the family member for interacting.
The interview camp was organized on 9 August 1918.
Electricity

The hamlet Basukera is electrified all the houses of the hamlets are
electrified

Post.

The satyabadi Sub-Post office is nearby about about 1.5 Km. The postal
and communication is well served by the office .

Educational Institution:-

The Bypass road on which Basukera is situated has linked all the
educational institutions. Primary Schoo- Saraswati Bidyamandir, Boys High
School & Girls High School College and proposed university within 1 K.M for
which the boy pass road is locality known as Gyanamarga of Vidya Path.

Health :

The villager have not failed in trouble about health treatment because
the Sakhigopal CHC nearby 1.5Km

Water Supply:-

The hamlet connects with rural water supply through Tap & Pipe system.
Five water posts, Besides, 5 well & 40 tube well are installs both by personal
and community effort. The understand water is saline plus this not for
drinking.

Market:

There are 2 grocery one stationeries shop in the hamlet. As the hamlet
adjacent to market there is no problem of marketing
Toilet :

Out of 80 family 74 families are used to toilet regularly. Only 6 family without
toilet

Agriculture :

Half of the villagers are engaged in agriculture, either land owner or


agricultural labor. The crop filed in irrigated by Mohandi delta irrigation system
(Budhanga Minor canal). Paddy pulses and til are imported agrian product . As
the hamlet surrounded with so marry coconut and bettle nut orchards. It
experienced grove hamlet. Cconut and battlenut are to important plant crops
of the villagers.

CHAPTER-IV

Social and cultural aspects:

Socio-cultural aspects is an special one because man is a social being. He born


is Society and services in society. So without society man would turn into best.
So social and cultural aspect of villages community is the gate way to each
their social staliculture .

However some of the socioculture aspect of Basuker is as follows :

Cast and religion :

As per the survey report is concerned we found that the villagers are
Hindu by their religion. Out of 80 families Sc20, OBC 40 and rest of the 20
families are open .

Family types:

Study found 5 joint and rest of the single hold out of 80 famalies.

Marriage System :

Marriage is one of the important social institutions. The marriage is about


monogamy system in this village. Child marriage or widow marriage are not
prevail. The marriage outside the kin and kinth and gotra in prevailed in
Basukera

ECONOMIC CONDITION :

Income:

The income aspect is a vital role in socio cultural relation of villagers and
their community life. The maximum, Minimum and mean of income for the
present status and future prospect of individual as well as the villages.

The table shows the income structure of the hamlet.

Sources of income

Sources of income plays an important role in the economic life of people


according to the sources of income most of the people depended on
agriculture, Labour, Srvice holder and other minors about 50% people get
income from agriculture . 10% service 15% business.

Daily wages labour 17.5% others minors activities.

Saving:-

The people usually think to save some money after their expenditure.
But the leading poverty does not give chance to save money. In Basukera of 80
families only 45 households have saving A/c at nearby Central Bank.
CHAPTER –VI

Demographic structure:

Population:

Socio-economic study first deals with demographic structure nears study


the population. So the demographic structure indicates the Sex ratio of
population, age groups, literacy rate etc.

From this table it is seen that sex ratio male are more than female

The table indicates the working people are higher percentages in the total
population . The number of above 60 group are sizeable to go the good
condition of economics as well as hygienic.

From this table it shows the literacy rate of Basukera is highest due to urban
fringe and location of schools and colleges are standing nearby.
CHAPTER-VII

CONCLUSION

To conclude with it the village is socially as well as economically sounds


and developed the percapita income and balanced income of the inhabitants
of the hamlet from every aspects. Either literacy, life span and sex ration
creates the integrity of the community habitants. It is possible due to
locational facilities, means of communication and adjacent to market, school,
hospital and Railway Station as well as bus stands. That helps engagement
possibilities of the hamlet dwellers.
And primary data is collected affectively. From very beginning we convinced
the villagers about purpose of survey and very much academic one.

CHAPTER – II

About Hamlet Basukera :

Panasapatna hamlet under Mulaalasa G.P. of Sakhigopal block in the


district Puri. The settlement situated on the bank of river Ratnachira adjacent
to Tala /Tarin Bazar Sakhigopal town. It is an ancient hamlet about one
thousand year the Kusan religion “Kera” means basti was named at theat time.
It is situated about half KM from Sakhigopal. The old Basukera is expanded
towards the bazaar area & now part of the Sakhigopal market. The proposed
dignities Odia University touches end side of Basukera Khurda Road-Puri
Railway touches other end of hamlet.

Location :

Panasapatna located 100.9 5’N and 850E

SITUATION :

Panasapatna situated east side Khurda-Puri Rly, Ratnachira to the South


Sakhigopal Temple to west and village Biraramchandrapur to north.

SITE :

The bypass road to Sakhigopla acrossed the hamlet.

SOIL :

The soil of the hamlet is mostly alluvial as it is part of coastal place in Puri.
VEGETATION :

The flora of the region is mainly coastal semi evergreen. Coconut plant found
in their region. Mango, Jack fruit, Groves found surrounding the hamlet.

CLIMATE :
The climate of the hamlet is experienced coastal maritime. Moderate climate
in time area due to influence of ocean. The mean annual temperature is 280c
Annual rain fall 145 cm.

CHAPTER – III
Home, settlement, Public utility and Education
The structure of settlement of hamlet Basukera is linear pattern. The
houses are stay parallel to road. There is continuity of houses is a line manner.

The village road upto date to link NH 203 and Sakhigopal temple. The
road is being used as bypass road to Sakhigipal market.

The housing is modernized building with bricks, cheaps and cement.


Most of the house is CC Roof, On two houses are thatched only one iron plate
(tin) roof.

The economic activities of the villagers are mixed as adjacent to market


one side and crop field another side. So almost half of the village in primary
activities (agriculture) business and service holders.

Transport and Communication :

The village is well connected with market Railway Station by 1.5 KM Bus
Stand by 2 KM from the hamlet. All-weather CC tp[ as well as black top private
road. The Khurda-Puri Rly. The N.H203 Puri-Bhubaneswar lies on Sakhigpal by
pass road.
