CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTINGS

This chapter features the introduction, statement of the problems,

significance of the study, scope, limitation, and delimitation of the study,

and definition of terms.

Introduction

Unity in class is the best way to make the students get the lessons

quick and easy. It is embodied with the appropriate classroom management

to be used by the teacher that makes the teaching and learning process more

effective and productive. It implies the prevention of distraction preemptively,

as well as effectively responding to it after. To the side of the teacher, it is

one of the most difficult aspect that affects them in making their teaching

effective to the side of the learners.

Classroom management is important in classrooms because it

supports the proper management of curriculum development, developing

best teaching practices and putting them into action. This can be explained

as the actions and direction that teachers use to create a successful learning

environment. In an effort to ensure all students receive the best education it

would seem beneficial for Grade 11 TVL students to spend more time and

effort in ensuring Grade 11 TVL students are well versed in classroom

management.
SHS in Calaca 2

The researchers had chosen this topic believing that it can help to

have a good relation to each of Grade 11 TVL students. Effective classroom

management involves clear communication of behavioral. It also helps us to

do home works and activities easy without any distraction.

Classroom management helps Grade 11 TVL students to have a good

image because of their proper behavior in class. It would also help every

understand the lessons very well.

This is also keeping the students organized, orderly, focused,

attentive, on task and productive during class. Effective classroom

management creates an environment that is conducive to teaching and

learning. It also builds positive, compassionate classroom communities that

engage learners and help them to cope disruptive behaviors and managing

distractions.

Classroom management is defined as the methods and strategies an

educator uses to maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to

student success learning. It also helps every Grade 11 TVL students feel that

they are in an environment that allows them to achieve. It helps every Grade

11 TVL students to understand that there are certain rules that they must

follow to ensure their success.

This is not only to maintain order but to optimize students learning.

To encourage and establish student self-control by promoting positive

student achievement and behavior. The most important element of

classroom management is allowing students an opportunity to understand

that rules are a part of giving them the best education possible.

Classroom management is the process by which teachers and

schools create and maintain appropriate behavior of students in classroom

settings. The purpose of implementing classroom management strategies is

to enhance prosocial behavior and increase student academic engagement.

It helped to start with the basic idea of classroom as a place where teachers

and students gather for the purpose of learning.

An effective classroom management plan will also help the teacher

keep the classroom under control and it helps the students focus better.

Students learn best when they are comfortable with their surroundings

especially through the building of strong students – teacher relationship. The

students will be more pro active to give their thoughts and feedbacks during

and after the lessons.

Classroom management is an excellent way in obtaining students

involvement in class students’ involvement in class. Students and teachers

can be thought as a team where team work and cooperation play as vital role

in achieving team goals. Students cooperation developed through classroom

management can also would students into young citizens.

SHS in Calaca 4

The teacher can use classroom management strategies to define the

students as good citizens in the near future. This can be done by bringing up

the by bringing up the concept of power sharing. The students will be given

responsibilities on their own behavior and making their own decisions, not

just following orders.

Classroom management is also a good way to get off to a right start

with students. It will make students to feel excited and will look forward to

attending future meetings. It also creates opportunity for the teachers and

students to get to know each other better.

Conclusively, classroom management is important because it is one

of the aspects of effective teaching. It would also help to boost every students

self-confidence because if they understand the lessons clearly, they are sure

to their answers before they raise their hands.

Classroom management is establishing a positive classroom

environment, planning and consideration are required for organizing a

classroom that will sustain constructive students’ behavior.

The researcher conducted this research to have classroom

REVIEW ON RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter features the review of related literature that aids the

reader to have the bases in determining the problems of this research

study.

Review of Related Literature

Umoren (2010) stated that the concept of classroom

management is broader than the notion of student control and discipline, it

includes all the things teachers must do in the classroom to foster student’s

academic involvement and cooperation in classroom activities to create

conducive learning environment.

According to Abel (2011), Classroom management thus

requires specific skills such as planning, organizing, as well as an aptitude

for team work. It requires a great deal of commitment, initiates, teacher’s

willingness to adjust, creative thinking and action.

Aliakbari and Darabi (2013) stated that relationship between

efficacy of classroom management transformational leadership style, and

teacher’s personality. Procedia-Social and Behavioral Sciences explored the

relationship between efficacy of classroom management transformational

leadership style and teacher’s personality.

11
SHS in Calaca
According to Shawer (2010) scores indicated a well manage

classroom in thus more assertiveness in teacher’s behavior, while low scores

indicated a less well managed classroom and thus less assertiveness in

teacher’s manners. The influence of assertive classroom management

strategy use on student-teacher predagogical skills.

Morse (2012) said that classroom management involves

curtailing learner’s disruptive behavior such as fighting and noise making,

close observation, arrangement of classroom learning materials, and

response to students who suffer from poor sight (vision) poor reading, poor

writing, poor spelling, shame dullness, hyperactivity and poor study habits.

According to Bassey (2012), the wider view of classroom

management shows increased engagement, reduction inappropriate and

disruptive behavior, promotion of students responsibility for academic work,

and improve academic performance.

Martin and Sass (2010) stated that construct validation of the

behavior and instructional management scale. Teaching in teacher’s

education considered that classroom management is an umbrella term for

teacher’s action to manage class, student’s behavior and their learning.

Tal (2010) stated that classroom management as the ability of

the teacher’s to lead the class, toward achieving the socio-emotional welfare

and learning of the student’s.

SHS in Calaca
12

According to Adeyemo (2010), the relationship between

effective classroom management and student’s academic achievement.

European journal of education studies “Good classroom management can

help to ensure protection of student’s from physical attacks by other

student’s, dangerous environmental conditions such as playing around

electrical equipment, and from psychological abuse from peers or adults.”

According to Clunies-Ross (2009), student’s behavior can

have a large impact on learning. By using evidence-based classroom

management methods, teachers can help improve behavior problem and,

thus, academic performances.

1. What are the effects of classroom management to the learning

process of grade 11 TVL students?

ORGANIZED

According to (Sokal, Smith, & Mowat, 2013), great

driving skills don't matter when the car won't move. Similarly, great

instructional skills won't matter if students in the classroom are

disengaged or out of control. Both novice and experienced

teachers consider classroom management to be a high priority and

an area of concern.

According to (Nicholas 2007), this includes creating

organized and orderly classroom, establishing expectations,

inducing students’ cooperation in learning tasks, and dealing with

the procedural demands of the classroom.

to adjust, creative thinking and actions.

“I think we need to have a responsible teacher to lead the good

classroom management” (P1)

“Based on my experience, we can maintain good classroom

management if our classroom officers provide a policy that every name of

noisy students will be listed on a piece of paper and every noise they make

will counted .All the name have to pay 1 peso each of the mark they have

and the collected money will be the fund to buy the needs in our classroom.

In this way, students can understand the lessons is easy and clearly because
