Consumer Survey for December 2019

SUMMARY

□ The Composite Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) for December 2019

stood at 100.4, lower by 0.5 points from that in November.

― Consumer sentiment regarding current living standards was

unchanged, at 92, while that concerning the future outlook for
living standards was one point lower than in November, at 94.

― Consumer sentiment related to future household income was one

point lower than in the previous month, at 98, and that
concerning future spending was unchanged, at 109.

― Consumer sentiment concerning current and future domestic

economic conditions were each one point up from November, at
74 and 82 respectively.

□ The expected inflation rate for the following year was 1.7%.
※ Between Dec. 10 and 17, 2019, 2,500 households nationwide were surveyed, and
among them 2,353 responded.
