B.MOTIVATION
- Have you ever tried to play Bingo?
Yes, Sir!
-Is it exciting?
Yes, Sir!
-Is it amazing?
Yes, Sir!
- Do you want to experience it again? Yes, Sir!
- Okay! So let’s have a Bingo game but we
will call it a YES game.

- Okay, so let’s start!

- Let’s draw the first number.
- Under Y!
- We have 4.
-May I ask Eloiza to please come forward and I
will crown the first number.
- Okay Eloiza, will you please take a ramp with
that number. -(Take a ramp.)

- Okay let’s draw again another number.

- Under E!
- We have number 16.
- May I ask Lyka to please come forward and I
will crown the second number.
- Okay Lyka, will you please take a ramp with -(Take a ramp.)
that number.

- Again for the last time, we will draw another

number.
- Under S!
- So, we have number 32.
- May I ask Airah to please come in front and
I will crown you.
- Okay again Airah please show us your ramp
with that number. -(Take a ramp.)

- In this activity, you will find out the different

possible arrangements of numbers.

- Who would like to form their first

arrangement?
- Yes, Carlo.
-One possible arrangement is 4 16 32

- Will you please show your arrangement?

-(Arrange.)

- Very good!
- Who will try another arrangement?
- Yes, Nova
-(Arrange.)
- What is now the arrangement Nova?
4 32 16 Sir!
- That’s right!

- Who can give me another arrangement?

- Yes, Cynthia. Will you please come in front
and arrange them. -(Arrange.)

- So, what is the arrangement now?

-Another possible arrangement is 16 4 32.

- Correct!
- Are there some more arrangements?

- Yes ,Lyka.
-(Arrange.)
- What arrangement have you done, Lyka?
16 32 4 Sir!
- Exactly!
- Form another arrangement Novelyn.
32 4 16 Sir!
- That’s great!

- Any other arrangement class that you see?

- Yes, Czyrene.
-(Arrange.)
- What is your arrangement, Czyrene?
-32 16 4 Sir!
- Exactly!
- Is there any other possible arrangement that
was not performed? -None SIr!

- Okay, thank you Xyrene, Asley and Airah.

- You may now take your seats.

.
- Are there how many in all Nickcho?
-There are six possible arrangements Sir!
- Okay Nickcho, will you please read all the
arrangements. -4 16 32 - 4 32 16 -16 4 32
-32 16 4 -16 32 4 -32 4 16
- Very good!
- Class, you will find out later if your answers
are correct or not as we go through our
lesson for today.

C. PRESENTATION/ EXPLORATION
- Class, take a look at the pictures.
- Tell something about the first picture Airah.
- Exactly! -It tells about a seating arrangement Sir!

- How about the next picture John?

-It is all about the arrangement of fruits Sir.
- That’s right!
- Paul, tell us also about the third picture.
-The third picture tells about a password of
- Correct! a FB account Sir.
- Class, what you have seen on the pictures is
all about arrangement or orders.
- Why is there a need to properly arrange or
put into order such things or even doing such
tasks or activities?

- Yes, Ron Carlo.

-There is a need to arrange them properly
- Very good! to look them beautiful.
- Give us another reason Eloiza.
-To make us decide which arrangement is
- Correct! the best one.

- Based from the first activity and what you

seen from the pictures, can you now picture –out
our topic for today? -Yes, Sir!
- What is all about our topic for today
Xyrene?
-It is all about arrangement Sir.
- That’s right Xyrene!
- Who has another idea?

-Yes, Paul.
-It is all about permutation Sir.

- Exactly, that’s our lesson for today.

E. LESSON PROPER
- Who can define permutation?

- Yes Anitha.

-Permutation refers to an arrangement of

-Very good! objects.
-Who has another definition?

- Yes, Jay.
-Permutation deals with orders.
- Correct!
- Here is another definition. Let us see if the
concept is the same with your definitions.

Permutation- refers to the different possible

arrangements of objects in a given set.
- You know class, in Mathematics we can apply
several ways to solve problems like this.
- What you did first is by listing all the possible
arrangements.
- Do you know of other ways to use and come up
with the same answer?
-Kindly share us Airah the other way of solving
that same problem. -We can solve that same problem using the
formulas Sir.
- Very good!
- Class, here are the formulas to be used.
* P = n!
𝑛!
* nPr = (𝑛−𝑟)!

- How do you read the first one Diwata?

-P equals n factorial.
- That’s right!
- How about the next one Angelyn? -Permutation of n taken r at a time equals
n factorial divided by the factorial of the
- Exactly! difference of n and r.

- In our first activity, which of the two

formulas is to be used?
-
- Yes, Nica. -The first formula Sir.

- Correct!
- Using the formula P = n!, what first are we -Determine first what is the value of n
going to do to find for the permutation Peter? then substitute in the formula.

- Based on our first activity, what is the value -In our first activity = 3 because there
of n? were three numbers involved so, P =
3!which means P= 3x2x1 and P = 6.

- Well said!
- You have heard that the answer in the first
activityis 6. Is it the same with your answer Yes, Sir!
before?
- Can you see now the magic in Mathematics?
You performed the first activity in 5 minutes to
come-up with an answer but if you use the
formula, the answer can be determined in
seconds only.
- Class, here is the problem. Airah, would you
mind to read it for us. -Five fruits (apple, mango, banana,
avocado, and watermelon) are in a
basket.In how many possible ways can they
be arranged if we consider three fruits at a
time?

- Very good Airah!

-Class, which formula to be used in solving the
problem?
-I think the second formula sir.
- Yes, Kathleen.

- Exactly!
- What are we going to do first to solve the
given problem?
-First, we need to find the value of n and r. In
- Yes, Benedict. the problem, n = 5 since there were 5 fruits in
all and r= 3 because we consider three fruits at
a time. Substitute in the formula and perform
the process.

- Very good Benedict!

- Considering what is being said, what would
be the answer to the problem? Everybody solve
on your seat and let’s find it out.
- Are you done?

- What answer did you get Bonna? -The answer is 60 Sir.

- Show us on the board on how you got the

𝑛!
answer Bonna. nPr = (𝑛−𝑟)!
5!
5P3 = (5−3)!
5.4.3.2.1
5P3 = 2.1
120
5P3 = 2
5P3 = 60
- Very good!
- Did you get the same answer class?
Yes, Sir!
- You’re great!

- I have here a “Bag of Knowledge” which

consists of two categories. The first one tells
about “What is suitable for me?” and the second
one is “Where am I?” In each category, there is a
corresponding problem which you are going to
solve. I need one representative from the boys
and also one from the girls.

- Representatives please come in front.

- Pick one from the bag of knowledge.
- Bernadine chose the category “Where am I”.

- Would you mind to read the problem

Bernadine? -In how many ways can a 4-letter word
MATH be arranged?
- Jay-Jay chose the category which is all about
“What is suitable for me?”

- Jay-Jay, please read the problem.

A dress shop owner has six new dresses

that she wants to display in the window. If
the display window has three mannequins,
- Let’s have two representatives again to solve in how many ways can she dress them up?
the problems on the board, one from the girls
and the other from the boys.

- Yes Veronica and Prince. Proceed now to

the board and find out the answers to problems.
- Class, while the two are solving on the
board, try to solve also on your seat and let us
see if you can get the same correct answers. Do it
in 3 minutes.
- (After 3 minutes) Okay class, let us now look
on the board and see if they provided us the
correct answers.
- Let us now check their output.

-Solutions:

P = n!
P = 4!
P = 4●3●2●1
P = 24

n!
𝑛𝑃𝑟 = (n−r)!

6!
6𝑃3 = (6−3)!
6!
6𝑃3 = 3!

6𝑃3 = 3●2●1

720
6𝑃3 = 6
- Class, did they get the correct answers? 6𝑃3 =120

- Very good Prince and Veronica! Yes, Sir!

- Great job class!

- For the whole class, let’s have a YES clap for

a job well done too.
- Do you have questions more for
clarifications?

-No more Sir!

F. GENERALIZATION
-Okay class, let’s have a recap on what we
have discussed.
- What is permutation again Nickcho?
-Permutation refers to the possible
- That’s right! arrangements of objects of a given set.
- Mark, kindly give us one of the formulas
to be used in solving the permutation of n
objects.
-One of the formulas is P = n!
- Very good!
- Give us the other formula Alexander. 𝑛!
-The other formula is nPr = (𝑛−𝑟)!
- Correct!

G. VALUING

- Okay class, how can you now relate

permutation into real life situation?

-Yes, Angel. -Permutation helps us to decide what is the

z of any object.
best arrangement
.
- You’re right Angel!
- Anymore class?
-Permutation can help us to form
- Yes, Christian.
conclusions and make wise decisions.
- Very well said Christian!

IV. EVALUATION
MECHANICS:
- Class, I will divide you into three groups.
1. You will be given envelops that
This time, be with your group mates and choose
a leader. contain writing materials.
2. Your task is to solve the given
problem inside the envelop.
3. After 10 minutes post all your
answers on the board.
4. Wait for the go signal before you
start
- May I ask a representative from each group to
present your output. Let’s start from Group I.
- Read first the problem - Given: n = 9, r = 5
n!
𝑛𝑃𝑟 = (n−r)!
9!
9𝑃5 = (9−5)!
9!
9𝑃5 = 4!

= 24

- Very good group I. You did great! 9𝑃5 = 15120

- Let’s give 3 claps for group I.

- Okay group II it’s now your turn.

P = n!
– Given: n=6
P = 6!
P = n!
P = 6.5.4.3.2.1
P = 6●5●4●3●2●1
P = 720
P= 720
- Job well done group II.
- Let’s give 3 claps for group II.

- May we hear the last group. - Given: n = 5, r = 2

- Given: n = 5, r = 2𝑛𝑃𝑟 = n!
(n−r)!

- You did great group III.
- Again class, let’s give 3 claps for group III.

- Congratulations to everyone! You did a

great performance today. Keep it up!

V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Solve the following problems. Show
your solution on a 1⁄2 sheet of paper.
1. Given the 4-letter word GAMU, in
how many ways can we arrange its
3 letters at a time?
