B.MOTIVATION
- Have you ever tried to play Bingo?
Yes, Sir!
-Is it exciting?
Yes, Sir!
-Is it amazing?
Yes, Sir!
- Do you want to experience it again? Yes, Sir!
- Okay! So let’s have a Bingo game but we
will call it a YES game.
- Very good!
- Who will try another arrangement?
- Yes, Nova
-(Arrange.)
- What is now the arrangement Nova?
4 32 16 Sir!
- That’s right!
- Correct!
- Are there some more arrangements?
- Yes ,Lyka.
-(Arrange.)
- What arrangement have you done, Lyka?
16 32 4 Sir!
- Exactly!
- Form another arrangement Novelyn.
32 4 16 Sir!
- That’s great!
- Yes, Czyrene.
-(Arrange.)
- What is your arrangement, Czyrene?
-32 16 4 Sir!
- Exactly!
- Is there any other possible arrangement that
was not performed? -None SIr!
.
- Are there how many in all Nickcho?
-There are six possible arrangements Sir!
- Okay Nickcho, will you please read all the
arrangements. -4 16 32 - 4 32 16 -16 4 32
-32 16 4 -16 32 4 -32 4 16
- Very good!
- Class, you will find out later if your answers
are correct or not as we go through our
lesson for today.
C. PRESENTATION/ EXPLORATION
- Class, take a look at the pictures.
- Tell something about the first picture Airah.
- Exactly! -It tells about a seating arrangement Sir!
-Yes, Paul.
-It is all about permutation Sir.
E. LESSON PROPER
- Who can define permutation?
- Yes Anitha.
- Yes, Jay.
-Permutation deals with orders.
- Correct!
- Here is another definition. Let us see if the
concept is the same with your definitions.
- Correct!
- Using the formula P = n!, what first are we -Determine first what is the value of n
going to do to find for the permutation Peter? then substitute in the formula.
- Based on our first activity, what is the value -In our first activity = 3 because there
of n? were three numbers involved so, P =
3!which means P= 3x2x1 and P = 6.
- Well said!
- You have heard that the answer in the first
activityis 6. Is it the same with your answer Yes, Sir!
before?
- Can you see now the magic in Mathematics?
You performed the first activity in 5 minutes to
come-up with an answer but if you use the
formula, the answer can be determined in
seconds only.
- Class, here is the problem. Airah, would you
mind to read it for us. -Five fruits (apple, mango, banana,
avocado, and watermelon) are in a
basket.In how many possible ways can they
be arranged if we consider three fruits at a
time?
- Exactly!
- What are we going to do first to solve the
given problem?
-First, we need to find the value of n and r. In
- Yes, Benedict. the problem, n = 5 since there were 5 fruits in
all and r= 3 because we consider three fruits at
a time. Substitute in the formula and perform
the process.
-Solutions:
P = n!
P = 4!
P = 4●3●2●1
P = 24
n!
𝑛𝑃𝑟 = (n−r)!
6!
6𝑃3 = (6−3)!
6!
6𝑃3 = 3!
6●5●4●3●2●1
6𝑃3 = 3●2●1
720
6𝑃3 = 6
- Class, did they get the correct answers? 6𝑃3 =120
F. GENERALIZATION
-Okay class, let’s have a recap on what we
have discussed.
- What is permutation again Nickcho?
-Permutation refers to the possible
- That’s right! arrangements of objects of a given set.
- Mark, kindly give us one of the formulas
to be used in solving the permutation of n
objects.
-One of the formulas is P = n!
- Very good!
- Give us the other formula Alexander. 𝑛!
-The other formula is nPr = (𝑛−𝑟)!
- Correct!
G. VALUING
IV. EVALUATION
MECHANICS:
- Class, I will divide you into three groups.
1. You will be given envelops that
This time, be with your group mates and choose
a leader. contain writing materials.
2. Your task is to solve the given
problem inside the envelop.
3. After 10 minutes post all your
answers on the board.
4. Wait for the go signal before you
start
- May I ask a representative from each group to
present your output. Let’s start from Group I.
- Read first the problem - Given: n = 9, r = 5
n!
𝑛𝑃𝑟 = (n−r)!
9!
9𝑃5 = (9−5)!
9!
9𝑃5 = 4!
9∗8∗7∗6∗5∗4∗∗3∗2∗1!
9𝑃5 = 4∗3∗2∗1!
362880
= 24
5!
5𝑃2 = (5−2)!
5!
5𝑃2 =
3!
5.4.3.2.1 120
5𝑃2 = 3.2.1! =
5∗4∗3∗2∗1 120 6
5𝑃2 = 3∗2∗1! =5𝑃2
6 = 20
5𝑝2 = 20
- You did great group III.
- Again class, let’s give 3 claps for group III.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Solve the following problems. Show
your solution on a 1⁄2 sheet of paper.
1. Given the 4-letter word GAMU, in
how many ways can we arrange its
3 letters at a time?
2. If there are 10 people and only 6
chairs are available for them to sit
on, in how many ways can they be
seated.
