This journal article compares the translation process of professional and amateur translators when translating the poem "Apa Guna" by Wiji Thukul. It analyzes the time taken, problems faced, strategies used, and quality of the translated texts. The professional translator took less time and focused more on sentence-level translation, while the amateur focused more on words. Both faced aesthetic issues as the main problem. The professional translator used fewer strategies and had a slightly higher quality score for the translation, though both were within the same parameter range. The article concludes poems can be translated if original elements are maintained, and word choice is most important in poem translation.
