Nonprofit Administration

The main difference between an administrator in a profit organization and a nonprofit

organization is its objectives. The main objective of an administrator in a profit organization is to

generate profit (Berry, 2010). The administrator must coordinate operations to ensure that the

company meets its financial objectives. Conversely, the main objective of an administrator in a

nonprofit organization is to help others (Brudney & Martinez, 2010). Administrators in nonprofit

organizations coordinate operations to facilitate programs that help others in the community.

Engagement in routine tasks is also a difference between administrators in a profit

company and a nonprofit company. Administrators in a profit company are not involved in

routine tasks rather than the control and guidance of the other employees to meet company

objectives (Berry, 2010). On the other hand, administrators in a nonprofit organization constantly

handle routine tasks because they prioritize the delivery of the services to the people rather than

the benefits for the company (Brudney & Martinez, 2010). These administrators also have a high

passion for helping others rather than giving orders.

Integrity is one of the ethical issues that administrators of nonprofit organizations would

encounter during budgeting. Some donors offer funding to nonprofit organizations for use in

specific sectors. For instance, the donor can specify that his money must only finance education

programs. In such cases, the administrator has an ethical obligation to uphold his integrity and

allocate the money to education programs during budgeting.

Response to Chelsea Lazo

You have a strong argument regarding the relationship between an administrator in a

profit organization and one in a nonprofit organization. It is true that administrators in nonprofit

organizations focus on service delivery, while administrators in profit organizations focus on

meeting organizational objectives. I also like the issue of record-keeping and the way you have

connected it to fundraising for nonprofit organizations.

An administrator of a nonprofit organization must ensure proper record keeping of all the

fundraisers for various programs. These records help the organization to promote fundraisers for

more programs in the future. The records also help to maintain clear financial statements in the

company to avoid embezzlement of funds.

Response to Crystal Rodriguez

The idea that administrators for nonprofit organizations must come up with different

funding sources is a good comparison with administrators in profit organizations. The later base

their plans on capital that already exists in the company. You have also addressed the ethical

issue of where the administrator in a nonprofit organization can accept donations.

Administrators in a nonprofit organization must prioritize sourcing for resources to keep

their programs running. However, the administrators can only consider legal channels of

fundraising (Keating, Pearsons & Roberts, 2008). The administrators must ensure that the

operations of the organization, such as fundraising, project its core values.
