Honesty City wants to change its system for assigning speeding fines to drivers.

The current system allows

a committee to assign a fine that is within the ranges.

SPEED LIMIT : 30 kilometers per hour

1 - 10 PHP 1000 – 2000
11 - 30 PHP 2000 – 4000
31 or more PHP 4000 – 8000

PROPOSAL REGARDING OVERSPEEDING:

 PENALTIES;
a) LICENSE SUSPENSION;
- PHP 500 ( SUSPENSION FEE )
FIRST OFFENSE 1 MONTH
SECOND OFFENSE 3 MONTHS
THIRD OFFENSE 6 MONTHS
FOURTH & SO ON REVOKED*

*NON – PROFESSIONAL license holders will be disqualified from getting a new one for a period of 18
months and 10 days.
*PROFESSIONAL license holders will be disqualified for 12 months and 10 days.
*REPORT OF PHYSICAL APPREHENSION AND THREATENING – license holder will be subject to
immediate arrest for 15 days. Bailing fees will be discussed but the license holder will be disqualified from
getting a new license for a period of 42 months.

3500 + 500 , 26 ≤ x ≤ 30

- Based on the given functions, we have generalized the overspeeding fines by 5 kph in
ascending rate. For instance, if the overspeeding rate is at 31 – 35 kph, and since the
speed limit is 30 kph, the violator will have to pay the overspeeding fine of PHP 1250 +
500 ( suspension fee ) amounting to PHP 1700.
